its as if its not registering any pressure in the pf as the gauge isnt moving, then all of a sudden it jumps over your set point, not sure if you lifted the lever or not to cause that jump, fwiw i personally found no real need to infuse over 2bars 5s infusion then lift.

Alright, so I set the preinfusion back to 2.5 bar (how it came from the factory) and pulled a shot using a 22g dose. It took almost 10 seconds of pulsing every second until the pressure needle moved. Then it continued to pulse until it hit 3.5 bar and held, I left it for about 10 seconds before releasing the lever. So it completely passed my preset.

When I watch the videos you all post, it pulses once or twice before reaching the pressure. I like how quick and quiet that is, and my pump pretty much runs until the lever is released. Is there any troubleshooting methods y’all recommend or do I need a new pump?

DavecUK That’s a good point, if he is using 18g in the very large baskets they supply…but one would assume he has always used the same baskets and this behaviour is new?

It would be useful to see the preinfusion flow from the group, without a portafilter in and also…has it got the safety sleeve system?

Read this and do the test I suggest. It would be good to see the flow into a measured container…set it to 1.8 or 2 bar, then lets see what’s going on.

Its more likely to be a pressure sensor , then the pump. They are usually highly reliable.

vladdooo Your pump is cavitating, this is due to being short of water. As you can see the flow is much reduced. I am assuming it was all working normally and then suddenly this started to happen?

There is not a blockage as no pressure is building
flow rate is way down
the sound is funny, typical of cavitation.

Causes:

Kink in inlet tube
blockage in inlet tube
Possible split or hole causing air to get in
It is very unlikel;y the pump itself has a problem.

Good question from Jake, this is important, please do a second video using just the flush leaver. This is so I can explain to ACS, as if this is the case…

The problem is not:

The pump
pressure sensor
group blockage

In fact it’s very possible that you simply need a small adjustment to the flush lever to fix the problem a job that will take a few minutes..

A have an earlier version, so please paste a photo showing the flush lever and the area where it presses in the group pin….thanks

Your middle photo suggests you flush lever is adjusted too far back (away from the main lever)

Wich can result in the plunger valve thingy not being fully engaged, in limbo just fractionally on but not quite ON!!

Make sure theres good movement on the flush lever when you pull the main lever.

Bottom adjuster changes the movement black block then adjusts how soon it engages.

Combination of the 2 need to give a full press on the valve via the flush lever when the main lever is pulled.

Hope both answers make sense. Im a crap teacher!!
