In my opinion, it will do a great deal because it allows you to easier have a full cylinder of water and very little air.

In fact, there is no advantage to having a V2 for what this lever does….

And it means you can easily clean the portafilter if like me you do not like walking to the sink with it!!

Added a bit of LS-X silicone to the side.

Note. Molykote 111 and LS-X feel the same whilst applying . THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!! LS-X IS NOT A LUBE!!

@Cuprajake seem to remember you posting about the new Decent shower screens and their different flow. What’s the difference with your post and me asking about improving my flow, and rate of flow???

The screen i bought i used once and went back to stock

The group fills that fast esp on a evo, the difference will be negligible.

Nothing is under pressure so it will flow totally different with a puck to an open group

The stock screen is thicker than the ims on the evo but if you give it a slight bend the spring clip holds it tighter,

Of all the things to obsess over this isn’t one of them,

Fwiw the decent screen i got didn’t flow anything like what the media of decent showed.

And fwiw all coffee channels, theres way more to it well over my paygrade, fluid dynamics, basket style, shape, hole size etc

Why is it under pressure. 🤔 First video was cold machine cold water. Second was when up to temperature a few minutes later.

All im trying to say is why would you spend any money on modding the evo when this is with it as supplied and all standard and seems to be what the overpriced screen is out to achieve.

I have never suggested the shower pattern will influence the taste to anyone, drinking latte, espresso, cortado etc , unlike others on the K forum suggesting an expensive shower screen is a game changer ! I would like to witness blind taste tests against a correctly working standard system.

It really does look nice and is nicely machined, i cant deny that. I know machining time costs money as well so im not even saying the product is overpriced for what is supplied.

I am actually trying to say, fit the standard screen properly and it just works.

I’ve been a lever machine owner for all of ⅔ months so just trying to get everything right in my head. Think I’m doing OK but as with this ‘hobby’ we all obsess about our equipment and routine.

Thinking out loud so my critique may be wrong…..you lower the lever and the group/shower screen delivers water into the available space at a certain bar pressure. The aim of this is to pre-infuse the coffee puck before the rest of the water is forced through the puck under greater pressure. So in theory if the pre-infusion breaks the puck then drips start. If you are pre-infusing for 3 to 5 seconds then I think the way your water is delivered @Jason1wood will be perfectly good enough. @Adrianmsmith your shower screen video is nice and uniform but I doubt, especially since you are a milk drinker that it affects your shot in anyway that you can detect. There are lots of things within the coffee process that upon examination could make a difference in theory to your shot, but in reality, do they……or is it just another contender for the coffee bollox biscuit tin?

Ive never said it changed the taste, have i? Ive just said it looks nice and gives a nice looking shower pattern, Regardless of whether all milk based drinks taste the same to some people!

Maybe all coffee forums and influencers videos are a waste of everyone’s time as this years content will be in the coffee bollocks tin next year along with the snake oil.

To me the rather expensive nice looking shower screen makes the shower pattern look very similar to what can be achieved with the standard one supplied free by acs with the machine, fitted properly and not brewed in to milk, or otherwise

Im not saying the screen is overpriced im saying i doubt even someone drinking straight espresso (🤑) would not tell a difference even though its being hailed as a game changer .

Please explain, as I am all ears! If you drink espresso or americano with water only then you are experiencing the true taste of your chosen bean. If you add milk then you are not tasting the true taste of the shot……..no explanation needed. You might as well add syrup!

Only if you bend down and look at it……..and just to be quite clear, if you cannot detect or taste the difference, why bother doing it?

Well you have technically sealed the edges so you are now forcing the water through the screen only not round the edges too

So there will be more pressure you can see how aggressive it is, having that hit the bed 🤷

Application of LSX was via blunted cocktail stick.

The LSX may wash off tomorrow for all i know yet.

Moly 111 stayed in place last week but thats just a lube.

Please dont play with LSX in any other place as it will cause blockages in the wrong place!! Its just experimental and i couldn’t find a split gasket small enough as a substitute.

The only difference to what others are posting is ive filled the circlip groove with 2 portafilter clips not 1 so its no longer a sloppy fit.

Same result as last week using the ims shower screen and 2mm circlip. Portafilter springs are 1.2mm as standard.

Only other difference this week is s little sealer where rhe groove is exposed as the portafilter clip doesnt fill the groove same as the circlip does. Last week i just used moly 111 which stayed in place.

In 4 years of owning the Evo1, a few things like flow, channelling, shower screen, puck screen never bothered me. We mostly drink light roasts and black.

Of course, we have moved to filter during week days during the last 1 year, with the Evo doing the week end duty.

Each to their own. 😊
