Don’t forget “preinfusion pressure” is a bad description for that set point

It should he called ….. “ system pressure as measured upstream of the pump in the brew circuit at which, below the set point the pump will actuate and then turn off again over this pressure, at any time the machine is turned on, regardless of a shot being pulled or the position of the group water inket valve .” But that’s quite a big label!

Maybe “pump actuation pressure” would be a better description than “preinfusion pressure”

PI is set at 2 by the way.

I’ll flush for 20 seconds and see what happens.

Adrianmsmith I can see it has a hard time reaching the 2 bar. And when it overshoots after a long flush it slowly drops in pressure over time.

I guess it still could be the aftermath of the scale buildup I had?

Adrianmsmith If it still does it, you possibly will need to change the non-return valve

Or possibly run some descaler through, does the OP say what their water is like, how it’s treated?

Most likely. A small spec in the non return valve will do it.

Flush 20 seconds x 10 cycles or more leave 20 seconds between cycles

To put it in perspective, see below for said valve.

DavecUK I encountered scale a couple of weeks back (although I thought my water was ok, which was not). Descaled it. But I could imagine it still has some left over scale or particles.

At the moment it seems fine after some flushing but we will have to see.

I think the way you described descaling earlier and in the manual should suffice?

So I’ve turned on the machine both in the pump on and pump off setup, and it works fine without tripping the rcd. The pressure valve was indeed the culprit of the short.

It would be!!

If the body of the stat was full of gunky water it provides a path from the mains line direct to earth via the water connector. You had already said no water was in the back of the iec socket

Out of interest had i said correctly which was pump running (black + white) and pump not running, as i had an argument with myself about it.

Yes, you were correct: black - white = pump not running, black - red = pump running

I’ll probably open the stat body to stick my nose inside, now that I know it’s toasted

Does anyone (Dave?) know if ACS is shut for the Italian “ferragosto” summer holiday, and if they are, until when?

I’ve emailed them a week ago to ask for a quote for a replacement pressure stat shipped to an Italian address but haven’t hear back from them yet.

I will be in Italy the first week of September and would like to get one before I leave, it will be much easier and cheaper than getting one sent to Oz.

You may want to try Maria directly. They may slow down a bit in August, but in the past, ACS has not closed down for any extensive holiday.

I’ve had very prompt email communications with ACS over the past week.

I just received a replacement pressure transducer. Anyone have a suggestion on best/easiest way to accomplish this swap?

It’s supposed to be only hand tight, but I haven’t been able to get an adequate grip from above. Maria suggested going from the bottom access panel but that is an even a more difficult reach. I was thinking I could get a miniature strap wrench in from the top or perhaps removing the side electronics panel to have better access. It also looks like the transducer screws into a brass thread adapter.

MacPhisto You need to find a small, but strong child to undo it…or ask your wife to have a go. It is not on very tight at all. If you have some grip mat, cut a strip and use that for extra grip.
