Having an issue with a leak at the steam boiler connection to the line leading to the steam valve (red arrow).

Best way of resolving? My normal approach would be to loosen the nut (yellow arrow), remove the boiler elbow and add ptfe and reinstall (hopefully still lining up with the copper pipe) before retightening the nut.

That would be my fix as well..the lining up is easy enough as you don’t need to tighten all the way down. I added the bbcode link (in the image service), so people can see the image directly. If you look on free image you will see them. The one you want is the BBCode one.

They are using a medium strength threadlocker now (that stays slightly flexible), so it should come out easily.

I had a similar leak.

Yellow arrow is compression fitting. I had to loosen boiler nuts to get a bit of movement to remove the pipe after removing the nut then as you said take out the fitting from the boiler, clean it and use ptfe tape.

Get the correct amount of tape and you will be ok. Does not need to be super tight to seal with the correct amount of tape. You will know when it feels right!!

Thanks. Which boiler bolts did you end up loosening? I assume ill need to something similar if the copper pipe is deep into the elbow.

Just making sure this isn’t one of the nuclear loktite connections before I start at it.

The three nuts underneath on the studs from the boiler. Don’t remove them. Just loosen four or so turns….

I usually lay a towel and turn the evo on its right side to work easily on the bottom of the machine. Easy to keep flipping it over!! Its not like its heavy 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thanks for that advice as it saved a lot of frustration. Just needed a couple of millimeters of play in the boiler for the copper pipe to come out of the elbow. The rest was easy and the leak is resolved.

Unfortunately, my machine has spent a fair amount of time in a “relaxed” position on a towel.

Received the boiler! Was sent Friday so happy to receive it already.

Let see how easy it is to swap. (Do not want to jinx it m, but it seems to be easy.)

Blackbirdman It won’t be very hard, you have a few of the key things fitted, the rest is a simple xfer from your existing boiler, which you do once both boilers are out of the machine.

DavecUK do you mean I also have to remove the service boiler? Was planning on leaving it in place.

But having all the fittings already installed does really help..

So finally I got the time to install the new boiler.

See video below. All seems to work fine. The pump started filling the boiler (I think) and I flushed a decent amount through it. All while the boiler were off.

When the element was connected I tested if it shorted the GFI but all seems to work fine.

Just want to check with you guys if I am forgetting something? Don’t want to mess anything up.

install was very straightforward and easy. I’ve made a Timelapse (although I’m not a videographer by any means like @Adrianmsmith made very clear ;))

Edit: I didn’t realise I flipped the camera, so I am a horrible “influencer” (which I’m to too sad about)

So I had the EVO in store for a few months. Now it turns on OK but the pump doesn’t initiate. !!! HELP !!! Thanks!!

Do you have a meter to see if the pump is receiving voltage. If no voltage then check fuses and motor power supply gicar feeds the transformer / power supply for the motor. Power supply is fused in the gicar.

You’re looking for 220v AC in to the psu and 24v DC to the pump, not 220 ac as in the evo v2

If voltage …..

Did you fully drain down to store it.

Maybe the pump is gummy and may need the unit removing and flushing to loosen it up or just hot water running through it .

Check the motor runs externally if you remove it.

Hi Graham, my engineering skills are legendary! If we start at the start the machine has not been used for some time. SO, as Adrian asked, did you empty the resevoir and boilers. If you did, all fine and dandy. The first thing the machine would do on turning on is sense no water. So, if you fill the water tank up and turn on then the pump ought to draw water into the boilers. If you did not empty the water from the boilers and tank, turn her on and let her heat up then draw as much water out as you can.

At this point, someone who knows what he is talking about can take over!

Hi, it’s been a while. Just found what appears to be a bit of a bargain and thought I would share in case anyone interested. It’s a cheap(ISH) levelling tamper that is 54.8mm. cost of £40.46 including shipping from “Cafegaga” on AliExpress. Arrived today and for the price I’m impressed. Definitely an improvement on my IMS 54.4mm basic, if only because it removes the arm strain a bit! Unsure how to upload a pic without Imgur, but will try.
