Glad you could fix it with their help. Please post the details here as @Eiffel will update the Unofficial Evo’s FAQ doc. Thx
Sure thing, I have attached some photos and a write up here of the problem and solution that can be used/edited as needed.
My Evo Leva (received first week of Feb 2022) had an issue where the right half of the touchscreen would not respond to taps; sometimes not at all and other times it would take about 20 presses to get it to respond, i.e to confirm boiler temperature change.
ACS/Maria advised me that the sensitivity of the touchscreen was set too low for this side of the screen and would need to be adjusted by screws on the back of the screen. This job was very easy and took 10 mins or so to complete (apart from the time to remove the panels etc of the machine I had to remove to be able to get a screwdriver in at the right angle to be able to adjust the screws). I think there are better directions already posted here on how to take apart the machine so I haven’t gone into too much detail on that.
Process:
1. Remove the rear and right side panels and open up the water reservoir panel on it’s hinge.
2. Remove the grill and cup warmer vent cover on the top of the machine,
3. Remove the little frame that is underneath the vent cover (the frame that this cover and the side panels screws onto).
4. It’s not necessary but I found it helped to remove the weight in the back, and I also took out the 4 screws attaching the black box/board, to give a little more space to work with and get a screwdriver in.
5. You should now be able to see the rear of the touch screen, there is a clear plastic cover on it 2 small screws holding it in place. Remove those screws and the cover will come off and can be slid carefully along the cable attached to the screen (this cable needs to stay connected so you can test the adjustments you make to the screen sensitivity).
6. You will now see 4 screws with a white circle around them, in the 4 corners of the rear of the screen. These are the sensitivity screws for upper and lower left/right.
7. Use a screwdriver to screw them in or out to adjust sensitivity. I found the best way for me to adjust them was to screw all 4 in completely and then undo each screw by half a turn at a time as needed and then testing the screen. These screws are pretty sensitive.
8. Once you have got all four screws adjusted so that the whole touchscreen is responding quickly and accurately to taps, reattach the cover and put the machine back together.
Hope that helps…1 thing you can learn from my mistakes is to not unscrew too fast the adjustment screws, as I lost one inside the machine when I was being a little too eager and I then spent 30 mins finding it and fishing it out, they are tiny screws!
