Fair enough - so three issues cosmetically - feel free to be honest with me and tell me straight if I am being too critical or not.
1 - The top of the drip tray (bit you sit cups on when pulling shots) is too small - every time you touch it it rattles about. It gets wet and need to wipe it a lot which causes a lot of ratting - a day in and it’s doing my head in.
2 - I was up sold the LED lights underneath the machine. I was sent the images of Dave’s machine on display at Host to demonstrate what it would look like. What I have received is two strips of LED lighting down the side of the machine, nothing at the front - so when lit it creates a big shadow at the front of machine. It looks ridiculous and nothing like the images which clearly show a machine lit to the front and sides. Have been mis sold here - was led to believe it was light all way round. It wasn’t expensive - small potatoes - but annoying none the less.
3 - My biggest gripe, when I removed the drip tray upon unboxing - the metal tray underneath it is really badly scratched. We are not talking about the odd scratch, it looks like it has been mauled. It’s out of sight when drip tray in place - but I’m really not happy with it. Again - especially for the price. I owned the Lelit Elizabeth for over 3 years and there is barely a scratch on it - I take care of my things, especially expensive coffee machines.
ACS response to all three issues:
1 - dismissed my issue saying that it isn’t too small despite me sending a video of the rattling. I had asked for a replacement part that fits properly.
2 - the machine at Host was a prototype and not a final production model. They can’t put LED lights along the front as water might get there and it’s dangerous. It begs the question - why use photos of a feature they can’t put into production as the marketing material
3 - the badly scratched part came like that from their supplier, not ACS fault and because it’s under the drip tray - who cares?!
I obviously now have another issue with the safety feature. The background behind that is when I realised I was going to be one of the first folk to receive this I asked if they could remove it from my machine and ship with the standard sleeve - they ignored my request and shipped with the safety feature - and now I have a problem.
The pros are - I can’t fault the way it was shipped - solid package. It certainly felt like I was receiving a premium product, they seem to have improved here. The accessories box is a nice touch. I love the look of it, and I trying to remain positive that I will get through this rocky start and enjoy the machine.
