On the original Evo I’ve always used my thumb on the small lever to flush after brewing. It only gets warm.
But the new “paddle” or whatever it will be known as is far more convenient.
Thanks for the reminder! Used that lever this morning and works just fine. It’s not elegant, but it suffices.
As for the low water warnings, my machine is very sensitive to the water levels. I have to keep an eye on maintaining it fairly full (above ¼) and watch where the water hoses are dangling. It’s important because my machine completely freaks out with low water. Two situations cause the secondary screen (and its autoventing functions) to glitch- low water and pulling the lever without coffee in the portafilter (such as flushing using the main lever).
I’m going to be plumbing the machine in as soon as I relocate my old machine to a new home, but for now, I keep a water bottle handy to refill before every espresso session. I’ve found that by not removing the water reservoir constantly, the hoses are less likely to be in a bad position.
It’s making fantastic coffee, but there are certainly a couple of quirks.
