Adrianmsmith I have a hissing sound coming exactly form the elbow fitting you have removed in that picture.

Currently managed to unscrew the nut, but stuck on getting the pipe out of the elbow, when I stumbled upon your post.

Do I understand you correctly that I need to loosen the boiler screws on the bottom and unscrew the nut of the other elbow to be able to get the pipe out of the leaking elbow?

Exactly that, yes

But, Do not completely remove the nuts from the boiler posts. You just want to create a little bit of movement ..

Cuprajake in terms of ratio of users, probably not. Weren’t you in a situation where you were making a choice between selling your DE1 and purchasing a boiler, on a credit card? It’s unfortunate to hear you had to debate that, but I’m sure a HB forum user would call it out as an equally if not bigger issue than buying something they can afford. We should be mindful of what we are putting out, if we don’t like what could come back at us. This stuff doesn’t help communities grow.

yeah, im not rich, all my espresso machines have been bought with money my gran left me when she passed a few yrs ago, i sell and buy the next, generally doesn’t cost too much to up grade/change machine that way

if you read the forum, you will see for the years ive been about ive been overly helpful, to the point ive gone out of my way to do so,

sadly with the testing of the niche seems to have come along a bitterness from quite a few, i got banned from 2 forums for just being asked to test that grinder,

and when i tried to help trouble shoot for people it got thrown back in may face,

so yes i have very little time for people like that now, for ref ive always called a spade a spade and most dont like being called out

anyway derailing another thread, so ill be off seen as i dont have an evo anymore

Being helpful is a good trait, Jake. We shouldn’t feel offended if someone doesn’t want the help. And, we shouldn’t alienate people who have different preferences or value priorities.

There are a few users here that are happy with their pricey products, perceived bargains, and other gear we probably wouldn’t want to own. It doesnt make them wrong, dumb, or lesser humans.

Yep! I didn’t unscrew anything else though, I asked Paolo and he basically said “It’s copper, just move it away bro”, so I pushed against the back of that copper tube (the part parallel to the front of the machine that runs over to the steam wand - it looks a bit different in my machine than in your pictures) and was able to remove it from the elbow fitting. I was a bit confused because I only had the elbow fitting in my hand after unscrewing it, no pipe going into the boiler, even though it’s the same exact spot as yours, but I guess you have your hot water outlet on the left side?

I used 3 layers of PTFE tape at first, which was too much. Two layers seemed to work well.

It’s nice that the machine is fully silent again not constantly hissing, it’s almost… weirdly quiet :D

Im always reluctant to “force” that small copper just in case it gets kinky!!!

But theres loads of ways to skin a rabbit, im told!!

Apologies of this has been answered before, but I’ve been away from the forum for a while because of personal circumstances.

What’s the easiest way of removing the group seal without damaging it? I have a small leak when brewing and want to try if a smear of molycote grease will fix it, before replacing it.
