whinmoor85 Natural coffee from Thailand (Hasbean In My Mug 739 Thailand Doi Pangkhon). First filter brew matched the tasting notes - Dark chocolate, fig, black pepper.
LMSC C and C Kenya Cup Score 87.75. First dial, and spot on with Grapefruit sweetness and nectarines/plum acidity. Nice cup with lingering sweetness. A tad faster I believe at 92/98. I think the cup may benefit tighter grind.
Alpesh LMSC Been struggling to dial these beans in. Are you having to grind very fine and what’s your dose/ratio?
LMSC Alpesh I have a default starting setting for medium light. I started a little coarser than that setting; normally, Kenyans, from my experience of using them did not require a finer grind. I will go finer by a couple of notches and see next time. 1:2.5 of medium light (7 bars) and 1:3 for Kenyans (6), given the acidic levels.
Cuprajake Unica coffee part of the dog and hat order, Promised a juicy banger, pineapple and tropical fruits, good mouth feel Didn’t disappoint very bright, sweet aftertaste good mouth feel, getting something along with the pineapple maybe mango
LMSC Origin Panama 1:2, 90.5/96.5, 30s. Underwhelmed, tbh. No notes came through, low acidity characteristics of described fruity notes and a bit of lingering sweetness. It is on the darker side for me as well. Edit: The beans appear darker than the photo.
MediumRoastSteam Bit of a different one from me: I had a Colombian from Fazenda Roasters, from Dedham, Essex Massachusetts. A very kind friend brought a selection from across the pond. https://www.fazendacoffee.com/collections/single-origin-coffees/products/colombia-antioquia It’s labelled as a medium roast, but, judging by colour, it’s definitely a light roasted coffee for British standards. It’s really tasty.
SMS78 Ernie1 Thanks for the recommendation. Bought a kilo of Mug Shot and agree it’s really good with milk. NewGround have 20% off until 31 January with the code “BCORP” so I will be ordering another kilo for £20.16 delivered (free delivery over £20) https://www.newgroundcoffee.com/product/mug-shot
Beverast Apologies for the rubbish photo - Got this as a green in a Falcon split and has become one of my favourite daily drinkers. Out of all the roasts I have done on the Kaffelogic I have been enjoying this one the most. Kenyan, Kemangau Estate AB Washed. Very juicy, blackcurrants, medium acidity, smooth, mild and fruity sweet in the aftertaste. Needs a good rest of at least a week or 2, but really shines and comes into its own post week 2. Could drink it all day long. Highly enjoyable in my Aeropress.
dutchy101 It’s probably the best coffee I’ve ever had LMSC . Almost finished the first kilo I had. Have another in the freezer. Didn’t realise they had this back in stock, thought I got the last kilo from them in December.
LMSC dutchy101 I don’t buy a KG as you do. I reordered 250g in mid Dec and opened only today. I did, however got a KG of their Ethiopia - Yirgacheffe Beloya as a re-order as my wife said this is the best coffee she has had so far as a flat white. This is her daily morning flat white until it runs out.
dutchy101 LMSC I was just looking at the site and have seen this one which looks pretty good too (albeit pricey): https://www.blackcatcoffee.co.uk/collections/coffee/products/colombia-finca-potosi-xo-natural?variant=40340875804739 I’ve just had a kilo of Cast Iron from Extract arrive with another kilo of Django’s Costa Rican Los Ciprieses en route. https://www.djangocoffeeco.com/products/costa-rica-los-ciprieses?utm_campaign=shipping-confirmation-email&utm_medium=email&utm_source=OrderlyEmails&utm_content=product No more orders for a while, haha
