Taith, Colombia, Edinson Argote Laurina, washed therrmal process - With the exception of a few coffees with notes of rose water/turkish delight, hibiscus (overlaps with tart red berry), or honeysuckle I find it difficult to describe a coffee as ‘floral’. Most commonly ‘floral’ coffees are Ethiopians with a jasmine descriptor, which often seems to be accompanied by a silty/sandy mouthfeel.
So it’s nice to get a coffee like this one, with notes of rose, marshmallow & foam strawberries (I don’t recall actually having foam strawberries, but weren’t the foam prawns strawberry flavour?). Delicate body, but tangible flavour presence.
Brewed in a Chemex 6 cup with Hario Waterfall paper & a Hario Drip Assist, 16.7g dose (coarser end of pour over grind), 250g water poured slowly at 62g every 55sec (each pour taking about 40s), first 2 pours in the middle, last 2 in the ring.
