In the last few days I am having issues with forum features not being available. When this happens, I am having the following issues: - No option to Like a post (three dot menu only has the Flag option). - No option to quote from a post (nothing appears when selecting text). - No option to Reply to a post (nothing where the option is usually displayed). - No option to add photos to a post (instead of a few options in the menu, only the option Add an image appears, but instead of working as normal, selecting it brings this code: ![](https://)). - No option to Preview a message in the bottom menu bar. - Notifications only showing the name of the thread, but no specific information that is usually there. - Possibly other things that I forgot. Then, after a while, everything is back to normal. And then it happens again. I assume the problems are on the forum side, but maybe it's just me?

I was having some as well and I noticed they restarted the hosting servers a few times yesterday. At the same time I was experimenting with some extensions and found one that was causing a problem. I removed them, but the changes can take time to ripple through the database. I think because the Cron jobs (unix) have quite a low resource allocation. This is why, pms have to be done with a good long gap in between, because they use a real time push command…but with low resource allocation, if you try and do another when the first isn't finished (error error..X). if I change, add or remove and extension, this can often make things weird for a bit until that change has rippled through…**especially with the likes system**. Yesterday I disabled it and then re-enabled it and it was strange for a while until it had gone through the database. I am actually removing some unnecessary modules and ones that don;t work as they should…this flipping approval of posts. Nightmare, because I don't know why it's flagging so for approval incorrectly, so I just disabled it and will deal with the spammers manually as we did on CFUK. I think of people have not added us as an exception to their ad blockers and pop up blockers, that may not be helpful. Lastly, when I make a change, if you are logged on, sometimes you might need to close the tab/refresh the window, for it to work properly….The good news is, I'm pretty much finished making changes by adding/removing extensions/functions. It's been a complex environment to learn in a short time, made harder by some extensions with small bugs which show themselves when pushing them to the limit of what they are supposed to do.

This might explain why I got an email at 21.27 last night telling me that a post I had made had been removed for having something in it that we might not want to see, or words to that effect. However having checked the very small number of posts I have made they are all still there!

@"Dumnorix"#p1187 I just disabled all the anti spam, were small enough they won't bother us much and if they do…I will take measures then. I have a few simple measures that I can perhaps take. So hopefully you won't see those messages again. My thoughts to reduce spam might be to allow users to register and until a mod elevates them to full user, their posts have to be approved. in this way a spammer usually discloses their intentions on the first post…not knowing it's going to go to approval. We shall see.

Occasionally I need to log out and log back in to restore the ‘like’ and ‘reply’ buttons. I thought it was just my phone acting up.

I disabled the big purple people eater header as well, I was suspicious of it, and achieved the same thing through dropdown menu items on Flarums own top bar. I didn't know I could do dropdowns. so one more possibly troublesome and to be honest, unattractive extension gone.

Currently having the problems again. Yesterday I thought it was because I had another tab opened with an active message box opened, but today it's happening without that. Behaviour is the same: No Like/Quote/Reply to and the bottom menu has less options. Can't add a photo as there is only one button, and pressing it brings up this code: ![](https://). I also don't see Likes on any messages, though I know they are there. Surely it will sort itself out later, but it has been happening quite often on my side. (ah, no option for emoji either).

There is a way I can almost always induce that error. If when looking at the lists of new posts and **I right-click a post to open it in a new tab**, the "like" option is not there. If I then close that tab and click to go to the post, or use the left-hand menu to go to the post…the like option reappears. As you can see I pin the pop out side menu, which you can make appear when viewing a thread by moving the cursor to the left. I can then go from new post to new post just by clicking on the list and not needed to open new tabs. Hope it helps. The pop out side menu is just the list of posts that appear on the home page…and speeds things up, rather than going backwards and forwards from the home page. @"DavecUK"#p1231 Yep, I can confirm I have also noticed the issue is usually (not always - sometimes it doesn't happen, I think) is induced when opening messages in new tabs. This is how I am used to browse forums: I go over the main list, open all the threads I want to read, each in a new tab, then go over them. I will try to avoid that here, because it doesn't work well. However, if that can be fixed it would be good, because I am not the only one who uses the browser like this. I saw another message from a person who said they got a code instead of a photo (can't say in which thread, because it's not opened in another tab, :)) - I bet it's the same issue. When you have the issue - you can't drag and drop a photo to the post - it doesn't work.

If you can use the pop out menu, it's really good and much better than CFUK

@DavecUK Just got a message from someone on CFUK who is reporting error messages on trying to register.

Rob1 Do we know who it is and what errors they are getting. We do have a user name blacklist e.g .com .org .co .net as we don’t want urls as usernames

so jim.com, or bob.commander probably won’t work etc..

Also we have antispam which is remote off site, user names, emails and ips are compared to well known spam ones including many disposable spam addresses.

I don’t have a list of names of people who are simply not allowed on or anything like that. A rude word in the name might stop them or cocainepete etc..

I logged onto the forum this morning and thought it was strange that there were no new posts. A little later I came back to look for something I read yesterday and still no new posts. But when the pop out window on the left opened there were loads of new posts.

I’ve tried logging out and back in again, but new posts are not highlighted on the main screen, only in the pop out window. Has something changed or is it just me?

Flat_Eric In the main screen, make sure the thing is set to latest….also the 2 circular arrow button on the right refreshes just the posts, rather than the whole web page. I just tried it with a test account, and there is no problem i can see?

By the way ( something not related to this topic so I apologise if I’m not supposed to write it here but I thought it’s better to inform otheres ) for some reason Chrome browser dosent show some features such as likes and reply to a specific comment . I checked on my mobile browser and then on my desktop and it was both the same ( maybe it’s just me ). Yesterday I was struggling to reply to a specific comments as I couldn’t find the feature so today I checked Mozilla browser and it was there ( all the features I was looking for ) . For some reason its not showing up on Chrome browser.

Omid Please remember if you right click and open a new tab, instead of going to a post direct’y, flarum gets upset. You can tell because the blue bar looks like this and nothing works properly including likes.

I tested it on Chrome and again just now. Ican see no problem…then I went into a post.

I can see the likes etc.., but to access the reply and likes buttons, the mouse button has to be over some part of the post, then they become visible.

Hmm, done all that, also tried another browser (I use Firefox in Linux Mint) and got the same issue; new posts are not highlighted on the front screen. Don’t worry too much about it, I can live with it as long as I’m aware of it. It may even be this old laptop, I don’t have access to my main computer at the moment!

Are you opening a new tab to go to a post, because it probably won’t work if you do….always click and go direct, never a new tab.

What happens when you try, does your edit window have the icons marked with the red arrows?

There is a bug when pasting from my clipboard that shows the image twice, but I’m pretty sure that’s because 2 extensions try to show the image at once…the problem is both have to be loaded…so I just remove the code for the second image. I’ve just now fixed that bug though….

Drag and drop works fine for me though…. as can be seen with this photo below which I dragged and dropped?

If you’re not opening the thread in a new tab and all the media icons are showing …then I really don’t know.. it works for me and for the test account…I just dragged and dropped from the desktop and it worked fine under chrome

What type of image are you trying to do…jpg .png or something weird from mac land/unix land like heic?

I use a Macbook pro connected to a larger screen via HDMI, the photos are from an android phone E/med to myself and dragged to D/T screen. In coffeetime dragged from screen to post. It then comes up on my screen but is not in post. This has worked on previous occasions.

The files are simply loaded unlisted to Imgur using an API. Odd that you can do a post with an image, see it and yet it’s not there.

Can you check in your media manager in the forum editor whether it’s sitting in there with lots of other photos?

Also when you reply, drag and drop an image into your reply.

Elcarajillo Are you running an adblocker, pop up blocker that can be turned off for the forum.

It’s also very odd the photo comes up full screen in your computer…it’s as if your web browser is set to display it and not communicating properly with the forum? Which actually tells your browser to send it to Imgur.

No adblock installed, I set up an E/m to test /try, image D/D from desktop to E/m no problem.
I give up, give me something mechanical. I tried to D&D to this post, ![](https://). All it does is bring this up.

Elcarajillo Also with your specific error, watch this, because I can induce the error…may give you some clues. I’ve also just found (not in video), that if one post links to another post there might be issues sometimes.
