John_Yossarian DavecUK I have just noticed that the Big V (the latest incarnation) ended up on Lance Hedrick’s bench, just behind him on the left. I am going to look for his review of the machine. The one I have seen is on the black version 11 months ago.
Amberale I like the little mirror, very classy. The steaming is unbelievable. I thought my Bianca was good after years of disappointing Classic performance but the big V is in a different class.
SpacemanSpiff Thanks y’all! It’s been amazing already. I’m coming from a Gaggia Classic Pro so this quite the upgrade. I haven’t even started taking advantage of the automatic stop feature because I’m still dialing everything in. Even still, I’m getting more out of a local washed Ethiopian light roast than I could before.
SpacemanSpiff John_Yossarian Absolutely. Steep, but most enjoyable. It’s also made me realize how mediocre my puck prep has been.
Cuprajake John_Yossarian Prob not, very much not way or no way, i can only speak of the two items ive used alot the acs and the duo, but both reviews were flawed, even the bianca some what. there seems to b a black hole around the newage levers esp on youtube
OldGregg Cuprajake What do you mean by his review was wrong? That review is actually what led me to order one when it was available….along with his criticism of this forum which actually lead me here 😅
Adrianmsmith SpacemanSpiff i just did the exact same ordered from blue star coffee 32 is too big for me….. needs around 23-24g I also ordered their “precision tamper” which is a good fit now using the 26 with 21g and seems great on the Evo NOT that there was much wrong with the ACS basket but its been bashed around a fair bit now!! off topic, bit of self promotion, remove if not allowed Now im committed to the V and evo, synchronika is listed of eBay…. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256375939089?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e12000.m113256.l116967&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=13acd935ec144ff89d8f811dd72fd50f&bu=43174752696&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20240113145222&segname=12000&mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e12000.m113256.l116967&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=13acd935ec144ff89d8f811dd72fd50f&bu=43174752696&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20240113145222&segname=12000
John_Yossarian Adrianmsmith There is a section here for Classified where you can list your machine. A great machine by the look of it.
DavecUK Adrianmsmith I am also mystified as to why it isn’t listed on classifieds here. In your ebay description you can add also listed on a coffee forum I am a member of, (then just put) “coffeetime on freeflarum”. We rank super high on the search engines. Far more effective and may well save you some fees!
Amberale Hey folks. Where are you sourcing blind baskets for back flushing or are you using something else? What is the preferred/approved method. Do we use the lever or the pump via the switch behind the group. Is there any need to use cafetto etc. With my E61 groups I have a hydraulic/pneumatic cylinder attached to a PF which stores and then pushes about 100ml of water back through the group. I don’t think that is necessary for this group as the amount of water in the group should be more than that in the headspace and portafilter in the E61. Am I totally mis-thinking this?
DavecUK Amberale Where are you sourcing blind baskets for back flushing or are you using something else? What is the preferred/approved method. I use a standard E61 backflush rubber disk…cheap as chips. Don’t push water back through the group, just use puly cafe or similar ever 2-3 weeks. Clean behind the shower screen weekly or so.
Amberale DavecUK So just pull a shot with cleaner in a blind basket and use the button to release pressure? Repeat to flush clear.
