I’ve learned to keep those kinds of opinions to myself. What I will say is that I prefer fast fill and rapid pressure ramp shots, which the Decent cannot do.

My Vostok steam wand purge had that odd smell also and I didn’t think much of it other than ‘ new materials’ .. it has settled down and does not smell as strongly. I’ll check mine again also the brew boiler.

M5Sime Brew boiler water is OK.. Steam boiler purge water still has a smell and slight taste of ‘chemicals’ so obviously not yet settled down

When I used to review new machines regularly, they all had that new machine taste and smell for at least a month of extensive testing….except Quick Mill machines funnily enough, they were good to go in a day or so.

I roast small batches, so I use the originals I purchased when I was visiting Taiwan. :)

If you don’t mind me asking, is this on your kitchen counter or is that a dedicated coffee station?

If the latter, what unit do you use for it? I’ve been considering moving my coffee stuff to a dedicated unit elsewhere in the kitchen but haven’t found anything quite right.

It’s a dedicated station that I currently have in my office/gaming room (still have work to do on the rest of the room). I had a carpenter put it together. There are quite a few that advertise on Instagram/Facebook/ebay. Just look up kitchen islands. The total cost is not much higher than the equivalent (and worse) Ikea units, which are not freestanding and are made of less robust materials.

Thank you both. I can’t imagine being without a lever machine on the bar. There are so many things we encounter in which there’s an unsolvable dichotomy between function and form. Levers somehow manage to deliver both in spades.
