I just feel for the small businesses. A friend owns a clothing shop in East London and after struggling through the impact of Covid and Brexit it’s a cruel way to spend their busiest time of year. It’s like the protests about oil and the environment blocking roads and vandalising artworks, I support the causes but this doesn’t really feel like the best way to get the support of the nation behind you.
I think the sad thing is the writing seems to be on the wall for RM. The need for printed mail is rapidly diminishing, once Post Office services are superseded by presumably remote digital access, between Amazon, Evri and the local ‘green’ services by the bigger carriers, I can’t see them lasting.
It’s a shame, but as with everything, businesses need to adapt and evolve, not just try and fight the change to a bitter end.
I lost faith in RM years ago. My partner and I have had literally hundreds of pounds worth of parcels just vanish. Even as I type this I’ve been tracking a first class parcel that’s apparently no longer in existence.
And yeah, pretty much every train journey I’ve taken in the last few years has been impacted in some way.
Kind of ties in to the customer service chat from other threads, I do think we put up with a lot. It’s my old age and having lived in the Netherlands for a bit… I feel like we’re not very good as a nation at saying “No hang on a minute I’m not going to just be ok with this, this is total s**t and we shouldn’t have to put up with it. Get it sorted”
