BrewLiam are you thinking the difference is in how close the zero point is then?
I’m hoping so since other than maybe not receiving it for a while or not at all, it’s my biggest concern that the espresso range could be small.
I’m concerned about a few things to be honest, especially as “having had” to watch the various so called reviews. Perhaps these things below are what’s on my mind…there’s a lot more than these as well.
- Apparently it’s easy to change from stepped to stepless. How do they know, they don’t have the same grinders
- They don’t show a grinder they have modded for stepless and exactly how you do it.
- The espresso burrs were going to be fantastic - but they don’t even have them. In fact I’m not exactly sure what burrs they have
- Chinese burrs don’t seem to bother them and if they are not good on the 78S, you can’t put anything else in!!
- Stalling, very much glossed over, is it the 64 that stalls or the 78, what tests did they do from a standing start on light roasts and at what RPMs One reviewer says they have been testing for 2 months. However doesn’t burden you with a downloadable spreadsheet or any basic data. Does however provide a complete word salad of nothing to digest.
- Why don’t they show start to finish grinding from a standing start and perhaps even the shot produced. All we get are jump cuts musing and silly statements.
- WTF is an Omni burr, is it something that does everything well, or does everything OK. People seem to want to believe an Omni burr does everything well…when you think about it, this can only be nonsense.
- What is the impact of burr speed on taste, what burr speed is recommended, how long does it take to grind at the recommended burr speed. Or at any specific speeds for both filter and espresso?
- The speed range I “think is 800 to 1700”? I’m not sure about the upper limit, but I do believe the lower limit is 800 rpm. Suddenly the conversations around burr speed and effect on grind are glossed over. Makes you wonder why people like to run Kafatek grinders well below 800.
- What “normal people” are testing them, I presume none, because even the influencers pushing this thing don’t have the final product. Will you be beta testers.
- And yes no idea of the espresso range, or adjustability e.g. how many seconds on/off the pour is 1 mark??
Then there’s the kickstarter
So how much is it…they are saying it’s about £446?
But when I convert it says £590
I am assuming free delivery…but is there VAT and import on that (if there is and I can’t see why there wouldn’t be), then that’s another 27%. This takes it up to £750 (if they put a delivery cost down, then you will pay VAT on that as well.
Oh and I don’t think it will deliver when they say it will. now all of the above could be pure bias from me…what do you think?
