Here’s something different for Aeropress owners. I’ve been looking at Tetsu’s pour over Hybrid technique where he uses a Switch for alternate immersion and percolation. I thought I’d try and reproduce it on an Aeropress and I think it actually works rather well. Certainly better than my V60 shots. So here’s an idea of how it works
Aeropress, inverted method
16-18g coffee 250ml water (good bottled)
Bloom coffee for 40 secs, using around 50ml
Add 100ml water and stir side to side to agitate
Wait 15-30 secs and press plunger down slowly
Pull plunger up and out, add rest of the water
Re-insert plunger and wait 1-2 minutes, no agitation
Press plunger down to the hiss
Your coffee is now ready
Here’s what Tetsu says about his Hybrid method with the V60 - agitate for the first part and percolate, then for the second part don’t agitate and use immersion (close Switch valve). First part produces clean taste, second adds flavour and mouth feel
