Edesia Under Grinder Knock Drawer

I’m looking to get a knock drawer to put underneath my grinder, to kind of neaten up the clutter in the coffee corner.

Ideally I would love to get the Olympia one (it’s an absolute perfect fit for under the Moca grinder), but I’m not a fan of the price - especially for a knock drawer.

This Edesia one seems to be small enough for the space I need it to fit in, but I don’t have experience with the brand. Can anyone guide me as to whether it would be a good purchase?

When we think a brand is over charging for accessories, wouldn’t that usually reflect on the pricing of the main product as well?

(I know nothing about this specific brand. Just a general though, and maybe it’s only me. :)).

cyclezib - think Dave said somewhere that putting a grinder box underneath a grinder is one of the worst things you can do.

He did. Steam rising out the vent holes in the top will get where you don’t want it inside your grinder.

Ok so that rules the Edesia out.

Given the Olympia drawer has no holes, how would that fare?

DrForinor - for what’s worth…. I used to have a drawer. Things to bear in mind:

the spent pucks will steam inside the drawer, causing condensation.
the environment created is then very suitable for development of fungi - organic matter, moisture, warm and dark.
if you don’t empty the drawer at least every couple of days, the above will happen.

Personally, unless you make a lot of coffee in one go, a knock box is a lot more convenient and easier to keep clean.

My personal opinion of course.

I hadn’t thought about those points. In that case, I’ll just have to live with the clutter 😅😅

For around a year. Niche fitted perfectly on top and the vents are only at the front. Nevertheless I always leave the drawer open for at least 15 minutes after use to be on the safe side.

DrForinor - it was good for a home in terms of size. I would never buy one again for the reason I quoted above. But like I say, if you brew a few coffees in a row (say 3 or 4) and then do the same again later in the day, it might be a good thing. Just remember to empty it out and clean it at the end of the day.

MediumRoastSteam I only usually make a couple of coffees when I’m at home on the weekends. Is more from a “looks neat” point of view why I was considering it.

Doram I’ve never once thought the price of the Moca grinder was a reasonable one. But in the case of a grinder, if no one else is doing what Olympia are doing then I’m forced into their product. As far as knock drawers goes, there are options, hence other considerations and this thread.
