capuchin Thanks, great data here. Was it just you taste testing or multiple people in the blind tests? Your post didn’t quite make that clear. (The PPS did help, but clarification would be good)
@capuchin Would you advise people who drink both to ditch the zero for the duo?
For some tests, there were multiple people…I was limited by the need to keep things quiet and for nothing to leak…that’s a big ask for 9 months or more. The espresso and Americano stuff was just me….also the workflow issues, just my opinion.
If you can afford to keep 2 grinders, then keep the zero if you want the body, a conical taste profile occasionally…However, in all honesty you get 80% of all that from the Duo without the downsides. I have the luxury of being able to have both. If cash is tight (as it is for most people), sell out the Zero and replace it with a Duo.
The grinder I have used most for almost a year is the Duo, and I have enjoyed the benefits of the Niche workflow, which I personally like, with the characteristics of big Mazzer flats. Whatever people say about the burrs being old fashioned, they are incredibly well made from hardened tool steel, very accurate dimensionally and Mazzer do know a bit about burrs. I consider them “one” of the finest burr manufacturers out there. Certainly better than “Chinese DLC Burrs” and a few other companies I don’t really want to name.
