So I have been playing with the grinder - trying to dial in - and whirling through a bag of beans.
Not there yet - hoping the grind level/dose time do not need changing too much between bags (as the current ones are only 200g) whilst I nail it.
Had a couple of gushers and stalled shots - also been trying to get the dose timing in the ballpark.
Current thoughts
Its a well built grinder which is pretty quiet when running - its quite a pleasant tone when grinding.
The design of the adjustment ring and burr carrier is excellent - no tools required to get in - the internals are very well machined and clean to have a clear a path out of the grinder.
Retention is not something I can comment on as I am running the full bag through the hopper - but from checking the grind tunnel (which is magentic and can be pulled out for cleaning) there has been so far no left overs post grinding.
The touch screen controls have been very responsive (even with the protective screen still on)
Only quibble is the slow startup time when you turn the solid knob on the side - you have to wait whilst the screen awakens…
In terms of the coffee grinds - I assume the difference of that from a conical to a flat burr - it seems far more airy and fluffy with a huge mountain of coffee in the portafilter.
This packs down easily under the tamper!
Early days but liking it so far - have received some larger bags of coffee from foundry so hopeful I can then dial in and enjoy before running out and swapping over to something else.
Before I forget the espresso section has 36 clicks before it flips to the mocha. Currently I am up in the mid 20’s dialling in - so seems to have plenty of scope/range to play with.
