Pompeyexile - I had an iPhone 6s for 6.5 years… I still turned it on the other day, and it works just fine. There was even a software update waiting for it, which I applied successfully. Cost of ownership therefore was approx. £100 per year.
With my Google phone, if it lasts me 3.5 years (maybe less if I factor in inflation), the cost of ownership will end up being the same.
Just try to think of how much the phone, computer, coffee machine will cost you over a period of time. If you buy something cheap but that doesn’t last, then effectively it will cost you more on the long run.
For example, buying an iPhone 8 second hand for £300 (no idea how much they cost now) which lasts 3 years is the same as buying an iPhone 12 for for £600 (again, no idea of cost) if that then lasts you 6 years.
Examples only. Doesn’t mean it’s accurate or real. But the principle is there. 👍
