Yes it can be difficult if they’re too full! The trick is not to fill them up to the top, then the top part of the cup (where you hold and drink from) stays cool. Similar to Japanese chawan or tea bowls, you don’t fill them all the way up.
But! If you’re wedded to a handled vessel, Leach pottery do some nice cups too. I just happen to like drinking from a bowl like a beast 😂
