Day 24:
Finished last night making a flat white of that Rwandan (🙄). Not sure, I liked it. Don’t want to dump this. I will grit my teeth, while also asking my family to do the same to see this bag through.
Mexico Maricela Esperon El Soyano from Crankhouse for Americano. It was a gusher at 4.5 mark on the Duo. I have always used 4/4.5 mark for decaf and never for a standard coffee.
17.6g, 45.9 pulled out at 7 bars and 17s! It did not channel and beaded the screen evenly. It was also a meh coffee. It is too dark for my taste buds. Brew was ok, although I never brew roasts like this.
It beats me why roasters - a lot of them - don’t see a value in at least mentioning the roast - medium, medium dark, etc. 🤷🏼♂️
In any case, I had initially thought Mexicans are less soluble and hence dialled-in a lot finer than the normal grind ref for espresso. After seeing a turbo shot, I checked my logs. I record every beans I have purchased so far. I found just 1 Mexican that too ground at the Turkish range on my hand grinder. I didn’t like that coffee as well. It was from a very good roaster. I will try pulling another one on the 3 mark on the Duo shortly and see.
