MediumRoastSteam There is definitely something going on, even when the machine is not powered. It doesn’t happen when the machine is on or hot. So yeah… A mystery.

Maybe it’s mining crypto currency? Did you notice a pile of bit-coin under the machine?

MediumRoastSteam RTC as in Real Time clock/controller? I don’t think it keeps track of time though?

Probably not, really cannot think what it might be….especially if it’s unplugged…mouse in machine?

DavecUK - No idea. I’m sure there’s an explanation for it… Not worth the thought or worrying about it though.

Free wristwatch inside each machine, just gotta find it 😁

Mine’s been off since lunchtime and still ticking, i’ll miss it when it stops!

      a year later

skylark Resurrecting this one…did your ticking stop? Mine started about a month ago and i cannot pin point the location, other than maybe the back left of the unit.
As soon as i switch the machine on, ticking stops!

Doing my head in! I can hear it from 15 feet away.

DavecUK I have had it on a smart switch, so the machines power switch is ‘always on’ and I simply press the smart switch button on/off or the schedule will turn it on/off automatically.

I’ve just unplugged it from mains and will see what happens over the next 24 hours.

soundwave1 - :-) - If you go by reading experiences in the thread (including mine), most likely the ticking will be there. :-)

Mine is also ticking. Even if i don’t switch it on for couple of days.

soundwave1 Heres the tests you can do and do you use a euro plug converter, or dies it have a UK 3 pin plug.

With machine on and warmed up

          • switch off machines switch (does it tick)
          • switch off at smart plug (does it tick)
          • switch off at mains socket switch (does it tick)
          • unlug (does it tick)

repeat these with the machine cold

Doing those tests will pinpoint any problem

          • normal ticking of metal as it cools down
          • possible live neutral reversal in machine, smart plug, wall socket, euro to 3 pin adaptor
          • supernatural activity

DavecUK - those were already discussed in this thread. Machine ticks unplugged and cold.

Supernatural activities seem to be the most plausible thing.

DavecUK - honestly! Mine ticks every 7 seconds or so. It’s very faint, I can’t hear it unless I put my ear on the LCC.

                Even when it’s physically unplugged?

It doesn’t even have a RTC module and battery, but even those don’t tick. It could just be changing temperatures in the room.

DavecUK - We are going round in circles: https://coffeetime.freeflarum.com/d/1888-lelit-elizabeth-ticking/29

                  Yes, even unplugged.

And no, it’s not a mouse in the machine either: https://coffeetime.freeflarum.com/d/1888-lelit-elizabeth-ticking/34

                  :-)

edit: I actually checked again. It’s now been 9 hours since the machine has been off. It must be some metal expansion / contraction (I have no clue) - as the ticking is now a more like 20 seconds apart rather than 7 seconds earlier on.

I also tried with a stethoscope - but to no avail.

DavecUK As others stated, its ticking in all scenarios.

                    • switch off machines switch (does it tick) Ticks
                    • switch off at smart plug (does it tick) Ticks
                    • switch off at mains socket switch (does it tick) Ticks
                    • unlug (does it tick) Ticks

If i unplug it from the wall socket during the day, by the next morning the ticking is gone. However, turning it back on and then off within an hour, the ticking is back.

The ticking is not consistent either. Right now it’s ticking every 5-6 seconds, other times its ticked every 2-3 seconds which is lin line with @MediumRoastSteam findings.

DavecUK im inclined to agree! Any reason why after a few years of ownership the metal is only now behaving like this?
