Got my DE1XL today and so far everything I read is true. It’s compact, lightweight, very well packaged. But the first time experience is also quite a bit frustrated. I spent 5 minutes trying to plug in the power cable, got the default one and it was very hard to be in place (big, stiff cable + limited angle), then another 10 minutes wondering why it does not do anything as I wanted :)
Maybe I’m a bit too “advanced user” to not reading the quick start manual carefully. but then as always a hard power reset fixed everything
So far the experience is not as smooth as with my Bianca, (except I am not afraid of breaking my back, this time), but I clearly see the potential. And steaming power is strong, not sure why people complained.
2h more hours before wife gets home, not sure what reaction I’ll get.

Cuprajake yeah everything is working now. I have a Niche Zero and was looking for an “upgrade”. Steam is more powerful than I would like, still don’t know how to decrease it, yet.

delta76 in terms of adjusting the steam pressure, it should all be in the quick start guide. As a starter for ten however, go into the ‘MACHINE’ section of the settings menu, and then click ‘CALIBRATE’.

You can then adjust the temperature of the steam as well as the flow rate. I have mine set to 170’C and 0.8ml/s, try that to begin with and see how you go. You can always adjust the flow rate up or down from there as needed, but I would keep the temperature the same.

Cuprajake home roasted coffee, and I’m overly obsessed with trying new coffees. Currently Guatemala light roasted as I like SIDRA GLE profile (Nano 7) as it’s very reliable/consistent.

I guess you could sort of honestly say ( if you keep your fingers crossed at the time). Yes dear, it was $500. But then neglect to mention the price of the software required to run it 😁😎

but It seems I can’t grind fine enough with Niche Zero. Even with very fine setting which would choke the Bianca it is still too fast with DE1. Not sure what I am missing :-?

Colour not a issue its just money is so tight now, blown turbo on my car. 15% is not bad.

Jony feel for you. Hope you will get it one day. they also have the refurbished machines for 20% off from time to time but they go fast.
My experience so far

the instant (almost) heating time is real - amazingly surprised. Coming from a Bianca which heats up in 14m, the sub 5 minutes heating of Decent is something else!
the machine runs lukewarm! almost cold to touch
the wand is not very comfortable to use (maybe I’m not used to it?) but also produces very good foam. Much better than on bianca. I know it’s mostly my technique to blame but I get very fine foam with Decent without trying
the charts! I can see why it can be overwhelming for some. Even though I’m very “technical” I think it’s quite a learning curve for me to understand. But the potential is basically endless
the noise is a bit annoyed, but not by much

So far, it’s not the perfect experience, but I never expected it to be. Only if I have some decaf to pull a few more shots :D

Cuprajake Tried adaptive v2, gentle and sweet, and Cremina lever something. I’m not “coffee” focused today as too many things else needed attention. Now I have time but can no longer drink coffee this late :)

One thing I’m pleasantly surprised is how clean the group head is after a shot. even with the screen shower my bianca is quite dirty. As DE1 does not have a 3-way valve (If I understand correctly) and they went a great length to redesign the water distributor, only a tiny bit of ground stuck and a quick flush get rid of it, no problem.

it copied some of your parameters in the shot you shared, but the graph confused me a bit
it seems I need to grind finer to reach the higher pressure target at the end?

Did my long over due clean up of NZ and I think I understand why it could not grind me enough. From the ground build up. 🤣. Will try again tomorrow.

Ordered 5kg of Colombia decaf (EA) which will arrive by the end of the week. Next weekend i will finally have some serious fun with Decent as I will no longer be bound by caffeine intake

I purchased a P80 a few days back. Won’t see it for a month or more but very much looking forward. I am however keeping my well-loved Niche Zero.
