New Mazzer Grinders

Hi,

Surprisingly little discussion on any forum but it seems Mazzer are about to drop 2 new grinders and they are drip feeding hints/pics each day until a show in mid october.

I wonder if this is the next home step after the handgrinders ? The cannot believe they need to add any further commercial machines to the range.

Is this first Mazzer to hold the portafilter like shown, and fully support it? My guess is that they have added grind by weight, which would require that the portafilter’s weight is supported. Grind by weight is in vogue and adds a feature which relies on relatively inexpensive components (particularly as they already have a microcontroller).

The problem is that for the home market, that bird has flown…probably 7 years ago. It’s all about single dosing now, not a hopper full of beans. Commercially, purchasers couldn’t care less about grind by weight.

Ive seen plenty of (trendy) coffee shops weighing the beans these days. SO maybe there’s still a market for it.

GbW is still desirable in commercial settings, the workflow is better and faster than weighing out separately (although slower than just using a timed dose and not weighing it) also it takes up less space than having a separate large scale.

Hopefully mazzer can come in at a good price point and stack up well compared to something like the mahlkonig E80GbW

MattH I like the look of this and having read the PDF I understand the placement of the adjustment dial. But, so odd this being at the back when in a normal home set up that will likely be against a wall or under a cabinet.

Lots of videos of the Philos now on insta etc..

Its beautifully made but seems (to me) to be huge.. it has a built in knocker and small brush to get it all out.

Just waiting to hear the price as tbh it does nothing a niche or timemore does not do (maybe even less as its not variable rpm for example) . Interested to see where mazzer position this against the other options and their own more commercial grinders.
