I have been semi regularly buying from the Barn, however postage to the UK is now expected to take 10-15 days. If you want it quicker you can select UPS at £16, which pushes the Barn out of my ‘go to’ list.

Maybe I have just been lucky up until now and this was always the writing on the wall, being the reason that other EU roasters have not typically been economical to buy from.

Nevertheless, I should shortly be receiving:

SHANTAWENE & MBOKAM AB.

Cheers, but €60 mean having to buy 3-4 bags at a time, too much for me to have sitting about at the rate I get through it.

LMSC The Candy Crush (the expensive one) was unimpressive, but the other two, the deep currant was vaguely ok and the orange flirt the best of the three. I think I was spoiled once when Patrick came over and I bought an expensive bag from Rave called Whoosh Whoosh…..it promised pineapple, it did, in chunks! Never had. coffee like it since

LMSC Thanks for the heads up, but I’m not keen on multi roaster suppliers, I’d rather deal direct if there is an issue.

Well the coffee turned up on Friday, so the extra I paid for UPs seems a waste, cheered up by the fact that the Kenyan Mbokam AB, washed SL28, Riuru 11 is proving very tasty, as good a Kenyan (or a coffee) as I have had this year. Notes are blackcurrant (tick), vanilla (tick) and rose (maybe?).

        MWJB Kenyan Mbokam AB

I’m glad you are enjoying it, I am just waiting on my bag of it to arrive. Shipping seems very slow at the moment

Barn, Ethiopia, Sidama, Shantawene anaerobic natural mixed heirloom - I often get hooked by the notes describing Ethiopian coffees and am left wanting. However. this coffee certainly delivers, good flavour intensity and sweetness, My most preferred Ethiopian in recent memory.

Notes are passion fruit (so expect a little tart edge), strawberry (not so much for me) and round (certainly not as tea like/delicate as many Ethiopians).

They have free shipping on all orders to the UK now until end of this month.

My first order had a 2 week wait before they cancelled it saying they had problems in their dispatch department, and were not going to be able to fulfil the order.

My second order had a 1.5 week wait before they finally dispatched. One bag had a stone.

        Never again.

think you can get duds from anyone, i had a bad roast from tim wendelbow and a a.m.o.c coffee that was just grass

Cuprajake Sure, but the long (& sometimes non) delivery times are a concern. I also had a bag not turn up, they sorted it as it was an error their end, but resulted in a 3-4 week delivery time total.

A shame as the coffee was, on average, better than most I get in the UK.

The beans are nice though. All three bags seem to be very small beans (peaberries?). I’ve also found I have to grind a bit finer with all three bags than most I’ve had.

It seems that they can be a bit hit and miss. I took advantage of the April free delivery.
I ordered them 22nd April, they were delivered today.
Delivery was via UPS and tracking details were excellent.
