Not had it long and it’s for V60 duty. Burrs should be standard gen 2, not SSP.

Recipe is Hoffman’s 1-cup which should take about 3 mins.

I calibrated to a faint chirp at setting 1.

At ‘1.9’ the one-cup Hoffman with various medium roasts draws down at 2m40.

That means i only have one setting (1.3) between where i am now and the chirp. Seems ridiculous to be right near the end of the range, especially as the grinder itself claims pour over should be around 4-6.

Is it just me/mine, or is this a thing?

How are you setting it to 1.9? Isn’t there just 2 notches between each whole integer (1.00, 1.33, 1.67, 2.00)?

Not sure how you’re getting the coffee to draw down consistently at 2:40, I’d expect some variation (+/-15-20s?).

If the coffee is consistently weak & tangy, you could try spacing out the pours to 40s intervals rather than 20s?

A video might be helpful.

Looking back, I made a few 200g brew water brews with Hoffmann’s 1 cup method, all fell 2:30 to 2:46 dry bed, even the over-extracted ones.

MWJB Thanks for your reply, chaotic week here, forgot to check back.

Yeah, my bad, i meant 1.67. No idea how i was getting it to be consistent (well, give or take 10 seconds) but it was always that sort of time.

I upped the weights by 20% whilst keeping the ratio the same, loosened the grind to 3 and it comes in at 3 minutes now. i guess the 3 is stuck in my mid because that’s what the video said, and i’ve now hit despite tweaking the recipe…and it tastes good and makes for a fuller mug.

Will try the 40s intervals and some other variants just for the sake of experimentation 👍

    Thanks :)

GaryGorilla 3 is a good starting point, depending on beans you may need to tweak either side (I’ve gone up to 5 on a recent bag and got good results).
