I doubt it. So often, scientifically measured differences that look significant on paper turn out to be insignificant in the cup (or indistinguishable) when blind taste tested.

HarveyMushman the lack of retention of moisture in the burrs, post RDT, was covered in the video. It was a long video though so understandable if some viewers missed it.

Personally, I’ve never had an issue with rust but I routinely season burrs with at least a kilo of beans before using RDT. But I’d genuinely like to know if others have had issues.

Maybe a well seasoned burr is coated in oil. If so that may help.

To be fair I didn’t watch the vid, just a couple of the articles that popped up the last few days.

I’ve also never had issues so perhaps it’s a non-concern. Your point about seasoned burrs makes sense also, especially given the very small quantity of water.

I find it very curious that the coffee world and the press is paying so close attention to this little bit of supposed science, yet the vast majority of people are now pretending that Covid (science) doesn’t exist (despite it being rampant, with very very high statistical numbers and huge numbers of people who are medically weak getting very ill or dying). Or ignoring real (proven beyond shadow of doubt) Climate Crisis science. Yet folks pay attention to fake science. Ignorance will always persist.

no jabs here , don’t wear a mask , never been sick. But all my jabbed friends have gotten Covid several times and followed the “science” from the mainstream media and have been sick all the time. My 21yo niece got my myocarditis after her 2nd jab and my aunty in NZ died of a brain aneurysm after her 3rd jab ….

Moral of the story is the majority followed the “science” and are all paying the price and are waking up that they’ve been lied to by their governments and media. Those that haven’t woken up yet to what’s going on …. Well , I dunno what to tell ya

Occasionally we do deviate from the coffee topic in this forum. I just found the attention that the press pays to this coffee science topic while entirely ignoring other scientific realities very interesting.

tompoland Spoiler alert: it’s somewhat inconclusive and raises more questions that it answers.

I would think that someone with 3 identical grinders with 3 very similar but different burrs (151A, 151B, 151C) would be able to answer some of those questions.

From what I understand, those burrs all have the same final stage and the major difference being the prebreaker stage. Vastly different grind times. It would be an interesting experiment.

JHCCoffee oh, also my 61yo friend who works as a receptionist in a doctors office, had to go to hospital for breathing difficulties, … and what they found was “micro plastics” in her lungs from wearing a mask 8-12 hours per day … as they have to wear a mask at work all day. She is now suing the doctors practice and swears she will never a mask again, as that crap you’re breathing in from the mask is poison.
