Excitement builds!! Looking at the architecture it looks like someone in the UK too! I have absolutely zero interest in what the influencers think of this one, it’s a day one purchase for me.

I have not ordered the gbw allground - kinda waiting to see what the philos is like.. tbh nothing wrong with my current allground….. Still cannot see a price officially on the mazzer site - nor of they will have a reseller in the UK rather than a import from Venice.

I might’ve imagined this but I think @"DavecUK"#1 suggested Mazzer will retail this themselves and aim for a sub £1k price point (possibly for early adopters, with a later price rise). I’ve been waiting years for a single-dose, multi-method grinder from a heritage manufacturer that I like the design of. The latter two usually being the reason for me not buying anything yet. Tbh, even if it’s not perfect it’ll be an upgrade on my current setup and like the LM, just nice to own and use.

Looks great. I think I’ve read somewhere it’s between 900-100 euros.

Rumours on HB, so take this with a pinch of salt, are that the Philos has been delayed. Wouldn’t surprise me given the impact global conflicts on supply chains.

Yeah I saw that. Though made me laugh that places took deposits and then refunded especially as I thought that mazzer were selling them direct to start with… but theres no info in the mazzer site either. Just waiting to see the review tbh - anyhow my blind shaker is about to arrive - so something else to play with 😂

Yeah the retailers I've spoken to in the UK said they had no plans to stock it. Looks like it will indeed be Mazzer direct. I can see the reviews being disappointing. There's no shortage of low priced 64mm flats and people who don't care about build quality, place of build and manufacturer heritage are going to say it's overpriced and find plenty of flaws I'm sure. It's an interesting price point because you can get capable single dosers for half the price or less, and it's obviously not going to compete with the top-end grinders like Kafateks etc. I think the only way this will sell well in the current market is if influencers really get behind it. Then again, I don't think Mazzer necessarily need it to sell massively well as the home market still isn't their bread and butter. I'm excited for it and have said before, will be buying it regardless but I don't expect it to be a flawless grinder.

depends really, the build should be better than that of the df and time mores, you would think, but its a saturated market there has been a zerno fs and a kafatec and weber eg1 all around £1500 on the old forum

I got that pricing when I spoke to Luigi Mazzer, the VP of the company and the son of Giovani Mazzer (owner). I did stress that it was a target they wanted to achieve for the introductory pricing of the Philos….It would go at at some point after that to it’s normal price…which was not disclosed. Probably because they are not absolutely sure what that should be.

That website (shopcoffee.co.uk) has high prices for quite a few products. For instance a linea mini r in white is £4890, but on coffee hit it is only £4524 so i wouldn’t take this price as gospel yet

Keen to see how the market reacts, especially regarding how they have reacted to different prices in different regions with previous grinders.

MWJB Since Mazzer has not announced a retail price, the phrase “bait and switch” hardly applies. Also, assuming this sites price is actually correct, 1,315 before VAT is not that far from “around 1,000”

I’m hoping @InfamousTuba is onto something. We have seen the Philos popping up on other sites pre-emptively with what appear to be guesswork pricing.

Although I do agree £1k for a Mazzer with this functionality would be a massive surprise given some of their standard OD grinders are almost £1k.

I expected £1000+VAT and delivery, I guess I’d budgeted 12-1300 but almost 1900 is a totally different animal. I’d be weighing up various other options at that price.

Without derailing the thread… have you used the Duo burrs for filter as well? I’m not a filter super-taster so I don’t need to swap the burrs to dedicated filter, but I’d like to do a couple of filter brews in the morning, then switch it to espresso for the afternoon.

HarveyMushman this is how I used my duo. I swapped the burrs for this purpose. It literally takes one minute. I change them whilst the kettle boils.

Mazzer just replied to my email saying the above link isn’t correct on price or availability. Someone on HB has posted a screenshot of a Mazzer email saying it will be 1000 EUR including shipping.

Good to know you can swap back and forth, but the espresso burrs are ‘ok’ for filter right?

I’ll occasionally make a ‘proper’ V60 but mostly filter use is just a fairly laid back batch brew effort on the Moccamaster so the espresso burrs might be ok.

Either way, it’s not reassuring.

MWJB Hey, I just posted your house for sale – special deal – 100USD! So much for rumor and innuendo. I’m guessing you really may not want to sell your house or perhaps not at that price. However nothing stops me from making such a claim, especially if I get more viewers (assuming I had a YT channel).

If you have promotional materials from Mazzer announcing a price then please post them. Otherwise, kindly realize that a third-party can say anything and often will. In case you haven’t noticed YT-influencers often guess and often make things up. Mazzer has not to my knowledge published any retail price. If this is incorrect, please point me to the price list as I am curious.
