Dusk - I’m not disagreeing with you on the quality and value. They are great. But I wouldn’t say they are a “light roast” in the sense of what Jake is aiming for. I usually buy from Foundry, they roast on the lighter side, but I wouldn’t say their stuff is “light” - yet, in my opinion, Django is darker if compared.
I also want to enjoy lighter roasts. Of course, my humble equipment - Elizabeth + Duo - can’t do all the fancy stuff like declining pressure profile or flow profiling, or super crazy stable temp - so I don’t think I’d get the most out of them.
I’m not on the camp of those who won’t pay more then £30 for 1kg of coffee, but equally I don’t want to pay £50+ for 1kg of coffee either.
Ps: my standards are not as high as Jake’s: I can count of my fingers the number of times I checked coffee in the bin - twice or thrice, ever. But never from Django.
