@"HarveyMushman"My guess would be 80% of Niche Zeros are on kitchen counters because middle class people got online during their new lockdown coffee habit and searched ‘best grinder under £500’ and found Hoffman talking about it. It also features in his most recent book about how to make good coffee at home
Hoffmann certainly brought the Niche Zero to my attention along with a whole lot of other viewers given the original review and its lifespan on his counter-top in subsequent videos and the recent grinder face-off with the Niche likely did it no harm, but that was well past the Covid era.
But the time… what else was there to buy that did what it did? And what else has really replaced it over the years? There is still a healthy amount of buzz surrounding the Zero and the healthy second-hand market seems to help that, with people able to jump into ownership and back out again if it doesn’t click with them without losing a fortune in the process.
It’s also one of the few ‘affordable’ grinders that seems hard to find swathes of negativity around, other than some obvious outliers with weird reviews from people that don’t have the mass appeal of James.
@"Adrianmsmith"I will never use the filter burrs on my Duo if anyone is interested in an offer 😎 they ground about 300g of coffee before I sold the sage and decided my taste buds are preprogrammed for espresso based milk drinks only.
As someone waiting until my CC ticks over to the next month before buying a Duo, if your burrs work out cheaper than buying both sets, yes please!
