There is a new grinder about to hit the market from Bella Barista the T64, **not to be confused** with the Profitec T64. It's a 64mm flat burr grinder, produced by a Chinese manufacturer, I had a prototype and already a few enhancements have been recommended by me to BB so they can fine tune their offering. **The grinder in the video doesn't have an extra movable zero collar, the revised grinder does,** and it means the zero point can be adjusted should you ever change/use different burrs. The BB grinders will have this as standard. These videos introduce the T64 grinder, it's a nice variable speed flat burr grinder that produces excellent in cup results. Thanks Dave, there is a "BG T64" on YT that may be the same. Looks pretty solid. The video was front August 2023 and it's normally an easy fix for the manufacturer so I'm wondering if you noticed any drift in the unit you have?

I got my unit from BB in January and it was stepped…I (damaged the stepped pin to jam it in, as you can't pull it out), this made it stepless. I did this after realising going in between steps was imprecise, it would possibly "fall off" the steps and move…plus it wasn't mine and would be going back (It actually is being collected by Bella Barista next week). As stepless, it's never moved or drifted at all and the company have been asked to make the BB grinders stepless. Also to add a re-zero ring as they might be factory zeroed, but if people change burrs then the zero may be lost. Also the factories zero might not always bee 100% correct. There is one big difference you perhaps didn't spot…**it's not variable speed**, mine goes from 800-2000 rpm, which is how I can use it to clear grinds without using the bellows. I actually have a DF64 and it in my option the T64 is a much better grinder. and more accurately made. Oh I forgot to mention once it's finished grinding, after 2 minutes it switches off, so they really have thought about the product and the grind cup etc.. I have no idea about availability and retailers world wide, if you are in Europe BB might well ship it?

dutchy101 Looks like the grinder moved inside it’s box, tore the instructions and damaged the inner box itself. Its quite a heavy grinder. I would say if the outer box its undamaged, that impact was well absorbed by the packaging and it’s extremely unlikely the grinder is damaged internally. Internal damage is more likely if movement isn’t absorbed by deformable packaging. As I know by many many espresso machine (and grinder) deliveries over the years

However, if you look at my photo of the packaging, if everything was in place…then it’s hard to see how the scratch mark could have been caused, unless it was by the lid edge, is there a witness mark on any other part?

It’s worth looking, in case the grinder already had that scratch from manufacture…which I am sure BB would want to know.

Internal damage though…nah.. I say this only in case they offer you a discount because of the scratch, you can make an informed decision whether to take it or not.

Got my T64 today

Nothing drastically wrong but a little shine missing, or at least a missing foot. Not even loose in the box. As per other report ,torn instructions and bits shaken around due to poor packaging along with rough handling from DPD.

I guess I’m going to be told it’s what to expect at the price point. Let’s see how the next few days go.

The good news is the new dosing funnel from @Norvin is a perfect fit for the basket and t64 cup.

Very little sign of static, which is better than the df83.

Bellows most likely will not be much use as it’s too easy to move the grind setting when you touch them. Hadn’t considered this issue.

There should be one in the packet with the brush - mine was there.

Adrianmsmith Norvins portafilter funnel is a perfect match for th grinder isn’t it. I couldn’t understand the comment about the grind setting changing, but when I got to the bit about the indicator ring being loose…I then understood what you meant.

I didn’t notice an Allen key in mine, but I’m going to check the packaging again in case. I didn’t worry about it because I have loads of Allen keys and Allen key bits for my small screwdriver. My grind indicator is also tight.

Ensure you feed back to BB, so they can let the manufacturer know and also get the missing foot to you….at least glue a rubber washer in there while you wait lol.

The spec has been changed for these so BB get the grinder they wanted, so I imagine there might have been the teething problems. Clearly packaging is also an issue. The manufacturer can only address this if they know. As usual, mine arrived in perfect condition.. Mine though was the grinder box, in a close fitting overbox, within a larger overbox filled with packing peanuts and a few other things…how did yours come?

It is a great grinder though…Way better than the DF64 and DF64V and genuine SSPs 🙂

Very interesting - thanks @DavecUK. I was thinking that perhaps this happened before it was packaged by BB.

The lid was loose in the box when I opened it, so it may have been the lid that made the mark, but looking at where it is (on the back of the collar I’m not so sure it could have been thinking about it.

Here’s a photo of the underside of the internal packaging that was on top of the grinder / in contact with the grinder. Looks like whatever happened was quite a knock:

The top of the outer box was packed with 2 bags of coffee which are still completely intact. This is the top of the grinder box (the outer box has no signs of damage)

dutchy101 especially if it’s working OK, but I’ll always have that doubt in my mind that it could have damage somewhere that I can’t see.

One day you might want to sell the grinder. And you’ll need to factor that into the price. So bear that in mind when you agree on a resolution as one of the options, if you don’t mind the dent on the grinder itself.

I will feed back to them in the morning. For now it’s on the lip of a silicone mat so it’s nice and solid.

As for the dosing funnel, it’s a perfect fit in the ACS basket and also a perfect fit for the Acaia, Weber and t64 dosing cup. Reminds me of top of the pops in the 80’s . A real snug Tight Fit 😎

Packaging wise mine was just the grinder box in a makeshift outer cardboard…..

The adjustable indicator collar was loose so have removed it for now as it was just spinning. But zero is good so it’s not actually required. A trip out to the van will find an Alan key I’m sure 🙃

I have a tendency to twist slightly the bellow as I remove it or use it (probably can get out of the habit!) but I noticed the grind setting is almost too easy to inadvertently “adjust”.

Maybe some molykote on the threads would dampen it and sort that out.

It’s My weekend tomorrow and Friday so should have time to play.

Mine arrived today albeit in white.

no packaging issue. A tiny paint blemish which I’m ok with but the zero collar was loose which on taking a look is a pulled thread so it won’t tighten. They have in turn made a bit of a mess of the grind adjustment.

I’ve emailed Bella barista already.

with this being my first flat burr I stupidly took the top burr out and didn’t remember which way it came out (I’ve now marked it) so was making a chirpy noise at what I presume was a filter setting. All sorted now.

I am getting a little static but hoping that will settle.

@DavecUK is there a cut out once it’s stopped grinding? I’ve had it on 800rpm when upped it to flush out the last bits and it has cut out on me as if it’s an auto stop feature.

steve_07 Yup safety cut out., it’s mentioned in one of my videos or posts. I think it’s 90s, on the prototype it was 2m.

The paint blemish is because of the grub screw used to secure the adjustable collar, sounds like someone overtightened it, stripped the thread and the collar has moved and scuffed it up. By the very nature of securing the collar, all grinders will have some mark where the grub screw locks it.

Again let Bella barista know, because all you need is a replacement collar, which they can ask for with their next order…you might just have to wait a little while until the order comes. The collar is the new thing, so if people change burrs, they have a way of rezeroing, without it you can’t. As it’s new, factory probably getting to grips with production…and BB can feed back to the factory, so the quality control improves for these newer features/requirements….

After it finishes the main grind, I spin mine up to top speed to flush out grinds and don’t use the bellows.

DavecUK yes I appreciate that. A new collar and all sorted. I could even live without the collar as touch point is pretty much zero and I don’t have massive inclination to change the burrs but appreciate the collar gives the option. Either that or mark on the adjuster with a pen or something.

Great little grinder so far. Especially for the money!
