Thanks @DavecUK - so I took the plunge and fed through the seasoning bag of coffee that BB provided me with. And like that - the grinder has righted itself - the sound I was worried about seems to have already disappeared. You’ve saved BB a load of hassle and me from embarrassing myself with them - so very many thanks for that haha.
After seasoning the grinder I put in some coffee I was drinking on the Solo DF64. It required a very tight grind (circa 5 on the DF64) so tried it at 17 on the T64. The smell of the coffee as it was grinding really hit me - it was incredible (this may well have been more noticeable because I had the grinder in a different place to where I normally grind, as my original grinder was still in situ), but wow, the smell of the coffee was really amazing. The shot, not so much haha. It ran through at 4 bar so I killed it off. Curiosity got the better of me and I took a sip which actually wasn’t bad. But I decided to go again. I only had 12g of coffee left however.
I switched to another coffee, which also required a very fine grind 6 / 7 on the DF64. I tried this at 12 on the T64 and unfortunately had the same 4 bar pull. At this point, I needed to go and collect my kids from school and it was too late for a further coffee so I’ve moved the new grinder into place and spent the last few hours doing my 6 weekly machine clean, as well as giving the DF46 a deep clean ready for selling on.
Will be going finer tomorrow and see how I go. If anything tastes as good as that first grind smelt then I’m in for a treat with this grinder.
I’m using a VST basket with a puck screen so my coffee tends to need quite a fine grind - especially the 2 I have on the go at the moment, which are much finer than the decaf I have (which was dialed in at 12 on the DF64)
