Grahamsphillips You could try them but I doubt they will carry much. There is a comprehensive old machine stockist in the US. It is run by Orphan Espresso. They have an extensive library and carry all spares, remembering yours is also a 110 volt. Postage is steep hence the suggestion get all parts in one go. Francesco is also a mine of info

It’s here!
And yes. We have asbestos
Grahamsphillips And yes. We have asbestos
Is that the grey stuff round the boiler?
Decent DE1 • Mazzer Philos
JammyDodger Yeap! But its not flaking off so I’m not unduly concerned
You can remove the asbestos by removing the boiler and stripping the asbestos from the boiler under water in a large bucket full of water. This way you avoid the dangerous particles getting in the air where you breathe them and dye.
kilo Thanks and I appreciate the advice. At some point i’ll do a full refurb and remove the asbestos!
Looks like Swiss quality is no longer what it used to be….

Honestly just feels like nothing is made as well these days. Chrome platings especially seem to have gone massively down hill in recent years and I wonder if that’s anything to do with chemical regulation.
I’ve got two Triumph motorbikes sat next to each other at home, a 2022 and an older one. The older one looks brand new still whereas the other looks like it’s been ridden through a salty swamp.
Harleys the same, I had an older one that used to sit uncovered in snow and after a hose down looked sparkly. The new one needs constant attention to avoid the finishes deteriorating.
Back on topic, I’ve heard a lot of formerly higher end manufacturers aren’t what they used to be. Plenty of the newer model LMs with issues, I’ve seen even Slayer has had a few QC issues.
I’d be tempted to sympathise with newer, smaller companies still figuring it out but these older, expensive brands shouldn’t be putting stuff out that’s faltering in such a short time.

Or paint it with heat proof paint and simply seal it in…then there is no danger.
