Cuprajake handy for relatives that I don’t want to give my best beans to. To tame the flavor, single basket and right grinder is a must. Hopper on Bentwood V63 ensures packed prebreaker chamber, leading to a very coarse grind. Low extraction basket keeps the harsh notes out. Works remarkably well. I pick bags that have 15-months remaining on the best before date also.

Easy to over extract a dark roast which maybe a double shots doesn’t help with.

dang2484 the benefit of the single basket is I don’t have to change temps and can still pull a 1:2. The Italian cafes do pretty well out of all this, so I dug into things and found a solution I can use for visitors and the occasional dark brew for myself, heh.

Just out of interest I wondered with all this 49mm talk. I have a ROK which has a 49mm portafilter. Does that count? Or because being manual I assume it can’t guarantee a constant 9 bar pressure, it is not worth trying?

Pompeyexile Depending on the size of the basket (dose), I’d probably use it for dark roasts because less preheating required.

Pompeyexile from my understanding, it’s the same thing so you’re already getting the potential benefits 😉

As for pressure, I wouldn’t worry too much as a declining pressure is beneficial especially for darker roasts but I might be corrected! 😅

drdre89 49mm strikes a very good balance for me. Not too high on acid even with ultra-lights roasted to 11% WL, and good body even at 12-14g doses.

Looks like there’s a UK basket on Kickstarter for what would seem to me to be a very reasonable price (£15 for the basket or £29 with a tamper and funnel).

I believe its all “legal” assuming its not your kickstarter, even then the rules are a bit blurred(?)

If it is your kickstarter i inadvertantly gave you a bump!!

Certain other forums are not so forgiving.

I think if Lelit came out with a v4 Elizabeth Dual Boiler that was 49mm with all the same features as the current Elizabeth but with a 49mm grouphead, portafilter, basket and tamper + a few improvements over the old Elizabeth it would be a top seller.

I would certainly buy it !

Adrianmsmith the dose size you use (20g) on the Leva is reasonable, so you probably wont see much advantage going to a smaller group with that. For folks that are at 20g or less on 58mm, the increase in body when going to 49mm can be quite noticeable. Having access to more than one type of group and basket simultaneously helps with perception of the difference (even tho sensory memory is short-lived).

Its just this project does not come over as the best thought through to completion on kickstarter and the guy does not seem to be a manufacturer, just a middle man.

Not saying it will not happen. In just cautious.

Not a lot of cash to lose though for anyone backing it.
