Rob666 My lovely Zero has a problem. Running without beans (or with them) it has a periodic vibration and slows down, sometimes to a stop. I have sent a message to Niche with an accompanying video. Meanwhile, any ideas?
dfk41 Rob666 Upload it to Youtube (if you have an account) then post the link. You can do the same to Imgur or other hosting sites. Or you can email it to me and I will do the YT thing and send you the link to insert! lochaber_shelbyville@aleeas.com
Rob666 🙂dfk41 Thanks David. I worked it out and posted the video before reading your reply. Please watch the one that’s there now, it illustrates the problem better than the first two attempts.

I agree with Jake, I think the motor may have failed…Just contact Niche and let them know you need a motor+gearbox unit (as they come mated together). replacement is a simple and easy job.
thusband That doesn’t sound good at all. When it stops does it stop suddenly? It almost sounds like there’s something rattling around in the grind chamber. Maybe remove the burrs and take a look?
Cuprajake It’s the motor Take out burrs, takeout the top plate unscrew and remove motor. Screw the bottom screws into the motor. There will be lots of black carbon dust in there.
Rob666 Thanks all! I had of course cleaned it and checked there was nothing rattling around the grind chamber. As usual there was ver little retained coffee and nothing untoward. I’ve already had a reply from James at Niche and sent them another video. Now awaiting a second response.
Rob666 Update: Grinder now completely dead, no red light, nada… Fortunately, I still have my Eureka 65e. Remarkably, the grind setting is spot on from where I left it years ago!
Rob666 Further update: Red light is back, so I’m guessing there’s a thermal cut out? Motor not running though.
Rob666 I’ve dismantled it at Niche’s request. The motor brushes are completely knackered and the entire interior is covered in carbon dust.
Rob666 Cuprajake The end cap is attached solidly. In fact the whole thing was assembled as tightly as you would wish. I’m a bit disappointed that the motor seems to have a relatively short life.
DavecUK Rob666 I’m a bit disappointed that the motor seems to have a relatively short life. How long have you had it? I don’t’ think it’s common for the motors to fail, or we would be hearing about it.
Rob666 DavecUK I can’t remember when it arrived but it’s one of the first UK assembled batches. Serial Number 1808 0065 Average three coffees a day.
Rob666 Niche very responsive. New motor/gearbox and PCB on the way at reasonable cost. I’ll post again when it’s back in one piece.
DavecUK Rob666 It covers all the basics and gives you a completely new drive train. The pcb is just belt and braces, just in case, although I don’t think it’s the pcb.
