Hey clever people, hoping someone had an idea on how to undo the collar. Thought I'd give it a quick clean and adjust the collar after but must have been cross threaded as it's not budging!! What specifically is not turning, the blind grub screw that releases the collar??

What grinder is it

If it is t64 the collar is not a specifically tight fit and slips easily once the screw is removed, and the grub screw has a relatively deep key “hole”. If the hole is worn then a screw removal tool may help you. Last resort would be drilling out the screw then drill a larger hole and tap to fit a bigger grub screw.

Adrianmsmith hey, yeah it’s the t64 collar for setting the grind setting. It’s completely jammed and not revolving at all. I’m guessing it’s cross threaded as it like you said, should move relatively easily once the grub screw is out!

If the grub screw is out it can only be coffee somehow holding it.

Give it a good soak in some hot water.

Take it out and tap it whilst holding in a dry(!) cloth whilst it is hot.

Please do not burn your fingers otherwise this is not my suggestion!!

Maybe pouring boiling water just over the ring in the hope it will expand slightly

Dusk tried that twice and soaked it in pully caff water overnight too!

dang2484 try putting it in the freezer for a few hours, then hold the ring with the grub screw to warm it and see if it will come off

Have you spoken to Bella about this? Obviously it is not normal.

I never actually fitted my collar because I could not see the point but It was very smooth and easy to get on and off if I wanted to.

Adrianmsmith no, not yet I thought it’d be easy to sort out, but not working out that way!

It’s still in the freezer now, so I’ll try the cool down/heat up trick and if that doesn’t work, I’ll give them a call 👍
