I own the kafatek as well as the philos and can see why the price point is so different for the kafatek.
This has a lot to do with production methods and the size of the company along with Quantities being produced.
I am not saying anything about the quality of the philos is bad and in fact through £880 (landed i the UK) grinder it is absolutely superb.
This in part is down to the fact that mazzer have grown over the years to become a much larger company and have very different production techniques and the advantage of scale compared to Kafatek.
My opinion not based on financial fact as i haven’t seen that!!
The company I work for has a lot of custom brackets and plates made from a local fabricator. These are all handmade hand machined, milled, turned similar to the methods used to produce the kafatek. For us we are ordering 10 or 20 of per year , so we cant use the same factory designed to produce half a million a week!!
He can’t and would never be able to offer prices similar to off-the-shelf brackets from B&q. On the over hand we can’t use anything from being b&q as it doesn’t fit so we have to have it custom made.
This changes prices from pence in to multiple £ but is to be expected.
