Passionfruit smells right up my street from beans to cup. The finish was as in wine tartness for me. I scored this 8.5/9, the average of two cups. It was a taster bag - 36g each.

I got a bag of their blackcurrant co ferment, which was pretty remarkable, they describe it as ribena and I inclined to agree, incredibly clear flavour. Apparently they do a tasting pack of all three coferments that might be worth checking out.

I also got a bag of their el jaragual 01, which had very distinct melon and nectarine flavours.

Yes, taster pack is what I grabbed. Loved the passionfruit. I will brew the Green Apple and Blackcurrant in the next couple of days.

In addition, their Orange co-ferment and J-01 Wahed thermal shock are being rested.

Another co-ferment taster pack scoring an average 8.5/9. I got what were noted on the cover. The aroma, the flavour and the taste were up there. 20g coffee was brewed as usual on the Hario Switch at 12% and 16.5g at 15% on the Aromaboy.

I could not justify buying _£15 a bag for each of these. Content with a taster pack. I am nevertheless looking forward to this orange co-ferment.

I am fascinated by this and have ordered the taster Sweet Shop pack too. Will this be the coffee that will actually wake up my taste buds?… I am feeling optimistic.

IIRC, a blended co-ferment of orange and something else with another roaster didn’t sit well with me.

This is a Kenyan. Hopefully it is good. It isn’t as pricey as the other co-fermentation bags. 🤞😀

The final taster pack - Blackberry Co-Ferment

Light, very sweet and it was like drinking watered-down blackberry juice. I initially scored it 7.5/9 and ended up with a generous 8/9.

In summary,

Passionfruit was big, bold and very bright fruit acidity
Apple was crisp a green apple acidity
Blackberry was very gentle

Can’t fault any of them. If I were to get, passion fruit would be my top choice.

Thx for the great recommendation. Great stuff. The aroma and flavour / notes were right up my street. Passion fruit and orange with a hint of honey at the finish scoring 9/9.

Taith, Colombia, Jairo Arcila, Blackberry co ferment washed Castillo - All brewed as pour over/drip. Medium intensity, consistently got the black fruit note, but molasses, mandarin…not so much. Nevertheless, it’s strong USP was easy to hit & maintain, making it a rewarding coffee to brew overall. Average subjective score over 10 brews 7.5/ 9.0 (average over last 88 bags 7.2), AKA 4.3/ 5.0, AKA 81%.

Taith, Kenya, Kuria Orange Co-Ferment, anaerobic natural Ruiri 11, Batian, SL28: Another coffee with a dominant flavour note thanks to the co-ferment process, I found this coffee lighter in intensity compared to Jairo Arcila, Blackberry co ferment, even though it was more soluble & extracted more.

Low bitterness, with a sweet, juicy, zesty orange character…nothing really in the way of complexity, but it certainly does what it says and is very nice .

I subjectively scored this 7.8/ 9.0 (or 4.4/ 5.0, or 85%).

Dark Woods, Colombia, El Placer, Sebastian Ramirez, carbonic black honey Wush Wush - One of the lightest looking beans I have seen, but no problems extracting it and hitting the described notes, one of the few coffees scoring 5/5 for being ‘representative of notes’ (a score of 5 requiring at least 2 notes to be tangible). Subjective liking 7.9/ 9.0 (AKA 4.4/ 5.0, or 86%), average score for the last 97 bags is 7.2/ 9.0 (4.1/ 5.0, or 78%).

All brewed as manual drip, or via Melitta Aromaboy & various cones..

A bit pricey at £11.98/100g.

In the pursuit of the off piste, flavour-wise, don’t often come across a bean offering liquorice which comes through as a finish.

Well for me the other end of the spectrum 😂

At the moment coffee compass (in littlehampton) is my fav - dark thick and chocolately. I keep reordering the triple pack and rotating through the options.

Current top dog - Hill and Valley - seems to just work everytime 😎
