Spaceboy, Colombia, Wilton Benitez, yeast innoculated thermal shock Caturra - all brewed by pour over/drip.
In now way offensive, nor anything specific to dislike, but scored a 6.5/ 9.0 overall (AKA 3.75/ 5.0). Average score for the last 100 bags is 7.2/ 9.0 (AKA 4.1/ 5.0). All things considered, fairly pleasant.
Always displaying some aspect of the notes (usually rose & I’m excluding those notes of ‘Percy Pig’ attributed to Aeropress brews, as I don’t do many of those & can’t really understand why they would accentuate particular notes), but not particularly clean and I suspect a borderline under-developed roast. Beans were very chaffy, it not being fully released from a significant number of beans, quite a lot of quakers - at least one in almost every dose (I picked out & discarded as many as were practical).
A properly under-developed roast wouldn’t have made it onto the list of ‘last 100 brews’ and would have gone in the bin after a few brews.
I will try a couple of Aeropress brews with the remaining beans, but I only included dialled-in, typical (for me) brew methods in my scoring.
To sum up, I’m a bit ambivalent, I’ll likely buy from Spaceboy again, but wouldn’t recommend this bean.
