Jason1wood that’s a litany of faults. I had to go back through my notes, because it was over 11 years when I last reviewed one. The brew boiler is brass, the steam boiler is copper. This means the joints are brazed not welded.
- Failed weld on steam boiler
- Failed weld on group boiler
- Blocked group head – Scale build up (completely fixable)
- Failed inlet solenoid valve (probably not failed, but scaled (might well be repairable by disassembly and descale), new ones are inexpensive and available.
It sounds like the machine has been fed with poor quality water, this not only causes scale build up and all sorts of problems as you have found but also causes the brazing and copper rot in boilers! The move to stainless boilers over the years has reduced this enormously, but as always suitable water must be used. depending on exactly where it is and how bad it is, the boilers “may” be repairable, but most people lack the skills to do it or assess it.
The boilers may be available from QM and it’s worth asking…
Who did you send the machine to for repair?
