I’d leave that machine off and stick with filter until it arrives.
It’s well documented here and other forums: you have to, always, lubricate the cam every so often (every 2 months or so) and you must always do that after a chemical backflush or descale. - so try to time that to happen all at the same time. I personally would never use hard water in my machine. Prevention is better than remedy. (I used a ZeroWater jug and re-mineralise)
