Hi all! I've had my Mara X for a few years now, and it's rarely missed a beat up until now. There's somewhat of a leak developed, which I believe is coming from behind the drip tray. From what I can tell, it seems as though some of the water coming from the spout behind the drip tray isn't quite making it into the tray, running down the back of the tray, pooling underneath (photo attached) and then inevitably spilling onto the kitchen counter. I've opened the machine up and can't see anything other signs of leak. I did make the OPV reroute mod to the machine a couple of years ago, but had no issues until now. Has the spout been pushed in at all, or does it all look normal?

DavecUK as far as I can tell, it hasn’t, although I’ve found it quite difficult to see the spout without using my phone camera to get a good look at it, bit of an awkward angle. I found someone on Reddit with a similar issue who mentioned bending the back of the drip tray, although I didn’t see why I should have to resort to that!

bacciochi I does sound as if somethings simply out of position, perhaps the drip tray caught the tube and pushed it back a little.

DavecUK sounds like it could be that indeed, I’ve tried to get some purchase on it from the front to pull it forward but it’s not budging, would you say it’d be easier to access from the back?

DavecUK had the back off and tried to see if there was any play in the spout, wasn’t moving at all. Funnily enough found someone with the exact same issue on YouTube, a repair may be out of my depth!

bacciochi - I don’t have a MaraX, bro I can’t check anything. But if the spout cannot go over the drip tray and then into it… then inevitably this would happen. Would be interesting if anyone with a MaraX could take a picture of where this outlet is, and where it sits relative to the drip tray.

bacciochi - ok. So it comes from the top rather than the back? Is that correct? Can you slide your phone with the drip tray (dry!) so we can see if it goes over it? Next thing would be to figure out where the leak is coming from.

Edit: I’ve been googling. It looks like, to me, either there’s a leak before the outlet (so missing the drip tray) or the drip tray is not being pushed all the way. I don’t own a MaraX machine so a bit of a wild guess.

MediumRoastSteam I slid my phone under with the drip tray and the spout definitely clears the drip tray so I’m really perplexed! I’ve pinged a message over to Bella Barista where I bought the machine so hopefully able to shed some light on the issue, will report back once I hear, thanks again!

bacciochi - so maybe the leak is where the hose joins the spout? Or just after that maybe? Have you checked for leaks underneath the machine?

MediumRoastSteam good call, I think it could possibly be where the hose joins the spout, no idea how to get to it from the back though as it’s really quite tight! no leaks underneath the machine, other than when the water spills out from under the drip tray once enough has pooled
