I started out in this game with a monster electric grinder, the Brasilia RR55OD which was a great flat burr grinder. Massive, although very quiet in operation, and programmable, but created more static than a million balloons being rubbed on woolly jumpers. Consequently, it retained more than it gave out. It just so happened that when I had the funds (and a lot of luck from a seller on Ebay) the Niche Zero was the new kid on the block and making big headlines in the home coffee world. Even on here. So, that is what I went for.
It is well-built, robust and in my eyes at least looks good too. But, the one thing it did that many products do not, is it very nearly lived up to its claims and hype. Now obviously, it would have been a marketing disaster to have called it the Niche Almost But Not Quite Zero, but when you compared it to what other grinders were leaving behind, you could forgive it. Yes, I have added some bellows to puff out those last 0.00? grams, but that is just me being a bit OCD.
For the price, build quality and does what it says on the tin, for me, it is a winner and I see no reason to lust after anything different.
Having said that, the above comment is from probably the least real coffee knowledgeable person on this website, so can be taken with a pinch of salt… But for the little guy just starting out on this journey, it might be useful.
