A simple mod seems to do a good job
I did a couple of brews in the last 2 days.
25g coffee, 330g of water with the strainer. Very weak cup scoring a generous 6 /9 for a decaf
17g of Squaremiles, 225g coffee with the strainer, and it was one of the weakest I drank. It had no taste or any flavour. I scored it just 6/9.
The issue, IMO, was a lack of sufficient brew time as the water goes through the filter very quickly. I decided to do something about it.
I bought a heat resistant silicone tube. It’s very
tiny measuring 3 mm x 1 mm.

It seems to be doing a good as the water drips thru’ the 1 mm hole slowly, building up the brew water on top of coffee bed and increases the extraction time sufficiently to give a far better cup than otherwise. I did a couple of brews giving very nice cups, good acidity and tastes as described on the bag, and scored an average 7.75/9. It is still a little weaker as the acidity was a little more pronounced on the Hybrid. But, I was very happy with the coffee.

When the last drop of water has dropped into the filter, thru’ the strainer, you see the water like this in the picture below. I will post an actual picture when I brew next time.

3mm x 1 mm (hole) tube into the dripper

I need to see what happens to the water if I were to do a full 22/25g coffee with 330g water. I suspect, the water may over flow. I will check this out next time.
I think it is time to stick to this set up for smaller brews and try a batch of 10 coffee in the next few months and check if it holds up well. 😊
