I had about 48g of this coffee enough to brew 3 × 15g on the Aromaboy. I ended up making 4 cups at 12g coffee, 150g water and 2 cups each at #16 and #17 marks on the Duo with and without the silicone tube.
The brews with silicone tube had the desired strength, acidity and notes as described on the bag. Nothing really set them apart, though I thought the brew on the #17 on the Duo was a tad better and smoother. The average score for the brews with silicone tube was 7.5/9 and an average brew time of more than 6 mins.
The straight brew (without the silicone) tube was interesting. The coffee was a lot cleaner, smoother, sweeter and was full of raspberries taste/acidity. These two brews surprised me. The brew times at #16 and #17 were 3:15 mins and 3:09 mins respectively. Although I scored both of them 8/9, I had actually liked the brew at #17 grind size on the Duo.
Given the marginal score difference, I think the silicone tube hardly adds any value to the outcome. I can do away with this from the Aromaboy. The grind size and the ratio (80g/L) have made making smaller brews possible on the Aromaboy.
Sifting yields 14.75% fines under 400 Kruve. So it looks like brewing at 15% 400 Kruve for smaller brews seems appropriate for me. I have brewed just 2 bags at 15% 400 Kruve. I need to brew at least 8 more bags at 15% 400 Kruve to see if the cup is consistent across multiple coffee.
All the brews still use the metal strainer.
