DavecUK This is because when grinding into the portafilter:
the workflow isnāt fantastic
the puffer is messy
I canāt check the output weight and there is some retention in the chute the puffer doesnāt get out
you have to bugger about with the grounds in the portafilter stirring and stuff.
Exactly this!!

I realise my home made tweaks are not to everyoneās liking, but
I also dont know why you would grind directly to a portafilterā¦.
My method hasnāt changed for at least 2 weeks and that was after watching this RDT lecture from Daddy Hoff.
I do not use the black thingy as a shaker.
But the workflow is great emptying it by lifting the bell.
No mess
No waste
Im trying to justify ordering the craig lyn one made with LSM dimensions at the bottom. The one im using was 6 quid on amazon!!
I wasnt previously using rdt with the Max (only the key)
But after listening to the above video i thought, what if. Anyway, 2 mists of the weber rdt bottle gives the required quantity and im grinding 2 full units finer and loving it.
Theres a shorter video here. (I did watch both!!)
See, Im not always negative towards the influencers š and for whatever reason this one i found particularly interesting.
The only negative to this with the max, you have to check all the beans made it to the pre breakerā¦. Cocktail stick to the rescue.
Just to add to this
ā¦.. mainly facebook peopleā¦.. think rdt is spraying water on the beans.
It is not (exactly)
It is spraying a very fine mist on the beans. There IS a difference.
This is where most people come unstuck (or to be more precise, actually get stuck!!)
