Londinium Vectis
Cuprajake the pandemic may have priced the vectus out the market, due to where it will sit, you’d have to be a lever nut or ££££ to buy it over something like a bianca
David may not be right, I remember a quoted price for it being £1,000…On HB Reiss was quoted as saying it was/would be more temperature stable than a Cremina and talked about simplicity. Perhaps he is aiming for the potential Cremina market? If he is, I think that’s a tough nut to crack.
I do agree that you would have to be a lever nut, or really, really want one.
Another nugget of information released by Londinium on this machine:
https://londiniumespresso.com/blog/news/3442/vectis
It reads:
At last, a small 58mm spring lever group. Direct fill, no pump, dipper fed, steam wand. 20cm wide, 30cm deep
That’s roughly the size of the Elizabeth, transposed, slightly smaller.
It’s a dipper though. I’d love to know what’s the trick on temp management.
Looks interesting though, and certainly something I’ll be eyeing out as my next machine, providing it can be demonstrated it delivers.
dfk41 I am not sure what it shows as the hold up was supposed to be cast groups
It seems to be the top of the group, where the lever pivots
DavecUK I do agree that you would have to be a lever nut, or really, really want one.
Aren’t these effectively the same thing? (Semi-serious question - given the competition and the possible price point)
I wonder what the price point will be, esp with the current climate

Cuprajake The price point is largely irrelevant until they are available Jake. All we have heard to date is promises and broken time tables all laced with the usual sprinklings of fairy dust. The Evo went from an idea we chatted about to production in 10 months, so what makes the little diddly so different. Personally, I would be surprised to see it surface anytime soon with the Argos looming, but what do I know.
Cuprajake - at the time, and not too long ago, they said it would be under £1,000. We will know when it’s out I suppose. But even then, new group, new machine. Would you part with £1,000 blindly? I wouldn’t. Now, if they have some good videos showing what the machine is capable of, what’s it like inside, etc, then it could be a winner. I’m certainly looking forward it it.
MediumRoastSteam Bet you, the reviews for it are already written…….lol
dfk41 😳🧐😬- all I need is a Mini V Evo Leva. 😊 - Paolo, hear me out! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

MediumRoastSteam You may have just given @Paolo_Cortese and @DavecUK a nice idea to conceptualise, design and alpha test a prototype, if not already under discussion!
What do you want to see - if this were to look like Liz?
LMSC - not fussed about looks. More worried about form and performance, within reason, of course. The only reason I don’t have the V Evo is because it’s huge. Something the size of the Elizabeth or the MaraX (or the Vectis as per above) would be ideal, for me at least.

If they were to adopt Liz and Mara X size, we are essentially downsizing the boilers - like the size of Liz.
- Would there be a space to fit other parts (electronics, displays, pump, etc), assuming ACS keeps everything else?
- Perhaps, the Mara X size may work.
- It’s going to have to be a super thick/ a solid SS to hold everything together, considering the dual spring group.
Edit:
Doubt, we are saving costs though!
I thought that the idea was to take the Cremina on. Apparently the Vectis (even though there are none in existence I believe) is already more temperature stable than the Cremina, according tolegend already put out, although I would take that with a pinch of fairy dust. The boiler on a Cremina holds 3.8 pints.
Width 7.87 in
Depth 10.63 in
Height 12.99 in
Weight 24 lb.
Some other more thoughtful soul can convert that please!

W = 200 mm
D = 270 mm (with lever 470 mm)
H = 380 mm (with lever 490 mm)
Weight 13 kg
Boiler 1.8 litres (note: the ‘3.8 pints’ are US pints)

So, this is the comparison to look at
20cm wide, 30cm deep against the above for a Cremina, and no doubt someone can post and make a table to compare the Liz to the other 2?
So it’s just like a pavoni style lever, as in not sprung?
I’ll admit I have no interest in a lever you have to do the pressing with.
When you introduce a human into the equation then you add variables.
I bet making a small lever that’s temp stable is quite hard.

Cuprajake You underestimate the effects of fairy dust Jake
Cuprajake So it’s just like a pavoni style lever, as in not sprung?
Don’t know about the Vectis; the Cremina comes in both versions, so in principle I don’t see why the Vectis couldn’t be sprung too. Quite whether either is stable mechanically and thermally… different question!

Cuprajake So it’s just like a pavoni style lever, as in not sprung
it’ll be a spring lever Jake, according to Londinium.
So if it’s sprung, then is that not a bit of a risky thing
I mean making a spring lever that is cheaper than your main products but just as good, why would people then buy the likes of say the lr24? Surely the only advantage it then has is adjustable pre infusion.
I dunno, I’m not bothered. It’ll just end up like most other lever threads
