Anyone who knows me, realises that when I comment on kit that I own, I am brutally honest! I received the above yesterday from BellaBarista. Their price is a shade under £1600 but it can be found for less although the main difference is BB hold stock and the others mainly seem to drop ship.
There is nothing exciting about opening a box! It comes as standard with a hopper that probably holds 2 kilos of beans but there is an option to buy a 350gm hopper which I did. The grinder is designed to insert the pf and let go. So you need to adjust the top and bottom clamps to achieve this. You then enter calibration mode, insert the empty pf, press some buttons, weigh out your desired weight of beans (18GM), and set it. This means when you switch the grinder on, give it a couple of seconds, insert the pf. After a couple of seconds grinding begins to whatever weight you have selected as your target weight.
I made a shot using the settings supplied. A small adjustment and the time/weight ratio was spot on for the next shot. I had a guest so had to make two with milk. Another friend then called and I made him a cappucino. When I have a black coffee after lunch I will video the process.
So far so good. I am not really bothered if it grinds 17.5 or 18.3 gms. The process is easy. It seems to hit the basket well with no spillage so I will update as time goes on. I bought it to try a non Mythos 75mm Eureka burr out ona different grinder. I am using a familiar bean but need to drink it black to get a better idea. I think sideways on it is ugly but hey ho!
