I’ll be very curious as to your ease/speed of use conclusions. And ofcourse accuracy conclusions.
I have an original VST refractometer (one of the early ones), which is very tedious to use. It requires careful calibration with distilled water, with the refractometer glass and the water just at the right (room) temperature. Then you have to bring the coffee to down to room temperature, then use a syringe and filter to extract the sample from the coffee, then dilute it to exactly the right amount, then bring it and the glass to room temperature (which also has to be within a narrow range). Then put only 3 drops on the glass, quickly do and write down 10 readings, calculate the average and use that average (TDS) in your app to determine the EY.
I just can’t be bothered! I know when I get a good shot because it tastes good. And the graphs look right. Mostly that it tastes good. Still, I am curious and if this were much much easier to do, I might give it a go again.
